Sometimes I wonder ...

And perhaps you should too ....

Do a Google search on "Rupert Murdoch, Koch Brothers". Read the New York Times article that likely comes up first or second. If you're truly adventurous, look a bit further down the list of links for an article that references "The New Yorker" magazine.

Left and Right are trading blows over the billionaires that seem to be funding their causes. I cannot deny a certain liberal bias in my thinking - which I have carefully tried to NOT expose you to, here. At least, not overtly, although I suppose over time my thinking and its direction will have become rather obvious. That said, this 'Left, Right' thing seems to have gotten rather ugly over the years, and lately the Tea Party Movement seems to be the prettied up face to some really radical rightwing stuff that is abhorrent, to me, once you lift up the covers to see what lies beneath.

The thing, to me, is that the Murdoch and Koch money is hidden and obfuscated behind many curtains of deniability, whereas the billionaire behind the Progressives, George Soros has never hid his open support of the Left.

Why? Why is the Left out in the open, and the Right, not? I wonder ....

Do yourself a favor, especially if you are a user of credit cards, and look into the Usury Laws in your State. And then look to where your credit card company is located. And look into the Usury Laws in THAT State. Look into the reasons behind the lack of Federal Usury Laws. See if that doesn't piss you off. Look a little further and see what the Supreme Court rulings have done to facilitate the credit card industry. And then, like me, wonder ...

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, in a speech of warning at the end of his Presidency, once referenced 'the Military-Industrial Complex' as something to be wary of in the future, because of it's potential to do financial damage to the Economy. But his original intent in that speech was to reference the 'Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex'. I wonder what might have been had 'Ike' had the balls to stick to his guns and call it like he saw it. I wonder ...

I fear for our future. I see the growing gap between the rich and the poor, between the 'haves' and the 'have nots'. One has to but look over our collective shoulders at the voluminous history of man in his various and sundry attempts at civilization to see a pattern that happens when this gap exists. There is change. There is Revolution. Whether or not the Revolution is violent - Revolution leads to - Revolution IS change. We are going to experience change. I may not live to see it. My children may not even see it. But if things keep going in the direction they seem to have taken over the last few decades, revolutionary change is going to come. It's the form of the Revolution which I cannot see - I just know it's coming. And I wonder ...

And perhaps you should too ...

hmm... good thoughts, Lou. Me, I'm a conservative (sorry 'bout that) and I have a "sometimes I wonder..."

If the ACLU exists to help Americans fight for their civil liberties, why don't they EVER defend Christians and THEIR right to practice religion, or their right to free speech (within the bounds of the constitution)? It seems that they only fight for causes that are anti-establishment or inflammatory. Don't all Americans deserve equal protection under the law?

just something I wonder...

TexanMama: Send me an email with specifics - where and when Christians have been denied their right to free speech - or their right to practice their faith.

I am a Libertarian and, honestly, any political movement that wants to "take over" the majority worries me. I'm Miss Moderation and I fully believe that a presence of all political views is what we need.

That and we all need to remember that we are AMERICANS. Not Republicans, not Democrats, not Independents, but AMERICANS. That is what is most important.

I hope this change comes soon. We need a viable third party and we need that third party to be a true third party with representation in the Capital. It gets me so angry most of the time to see and know what they are doing and at the same time making me feel like there's nothing I can do to stop them. Sure, I vote, but we need more voices if we are to be heard.

Oh, Lou, don't get me started. I think you will have discovered where I live on this issue (twins, remember?) from the occasional post I do, where it bubbles unwittingly to the surface. But like you, I try to keep my posts impartial. Several years ago during a particularly vitriolic and expensive display "us vs. them" behavior in Congress, I began wondering myself. What would happen if we were a "no party" system. Hmmm...

Something has to change. The political elite, of both stripes, are so corrupt and out of touch that it is impossible for them to even begin to effectively govern this country. There is an us and a them, and its not R and D, it's politicians and the rest of us. THAT is what needs to change. Of the people, by the people. We need to find our way back to that.
