Friday Haiku - Campfire

Haiku Friday

For anyone who has ever spent a night at the campfire ....

The smoke rises high
curling above the big flames
the light is golden

The smoke rises high
and visions of Indians
dance around the flames

The smoke rises high
The flame reaches out to warm
and make sleepy eyes

The smoke rises high
and ancient songs live again
echoes in the night

The smoke rises high
and children fall slow asleep
next to the campfire.

In my ears? Loreena McKennitt's "Huron 'Beltane' Fire Dance" from the album 'Parallel Dreams'.

This coming July, blogHer is coming to Chicago. Right up the road from me. Me and my camera are gonna be there. Bet your bottom dollar.

Peace.

you make me want to chill around a camp fire, this sounds so enticing.

What's blogHer?
Is it a blogger's convention?
Maybe it is a stupid question?

I do so enjoy a camp fire, Thanks for sharing yours. Nothing better for enjoying the country evening, and friends.

By the way, I took yesterdays meme home with me, and I posted the seven random things on my blog today. Just thought you'd like to know?

Being a hardened camper I really love a campfire in the woods to sit round and tell ghost stories.
I have had a great couple of weeks in my new job, its true blind faith in a HP works.
Just had fish & chips and ready for the weekend now, feel so tired I could sleep for days, i should get a lie in till dinnertime tommorow

Oooo, I love campfires! It's been a long time since I've been around one, but I remember the s'mores. And the toasted bananas - did anyone else toast bananas? Yum-o.

If you're going to have a campfire you'll need ghost stories and s'mores!

I heard it was in Chicago next July. I'm really thinking about going. I might stay downtown, if not want to carpool?!?

This is awesome. I love a good campfire! They have a special magic.

While I have good reason to likely not be able to attend BlogHer, I will possibly be in Chicago the day before. And in February. ;)

I haven't been camping in years. Good times!

I haven't been camping in many years. In fact, the last time I went, it poured rain and we left early. After that experience, I'm not anxious to go camping again anytime soon. Nice haiku, though.

I've never been camping, but this fire you mention sounds divine right now in this chilly weather.

I HOPE to meet you in Chicago!!!

Mmmmm, I could smell the smoke. I love the camp fire. The crackles, the pops, the sparks. You brought me right there. As always.

I won't be at the convention, but I would love to roast marshmallows with you sometime on a blue/orange flame.

Great imagery in your haiku.

You'll enjoy going to the convention this July. I look forward to your take on this event.

Hi Lou,

Your poem brings back fond memories of camping with my Dad.

Enjoy the convention.

I haven't been camping in years. This was so beautiful that I might have to go camping.

But not in July. I'll be at the Sheraton in Chicago!

That was me last weekend, with my youngest snuggled next to me. Tonight, right now, he's sitting around a campfire with 18 other Webelos, learning how to be Boy Scouts.

Counting down-I'll get to meet you next year, right?
