Today has been a good day. Cubs win (7th in a row). Canvas bought. No frame for the new painting, though. I think I'll go to Hobby Lobby and look for a frame there. That's where I got the first one. And that's where I'll get the frame for the still unfinished 'Erin in November' - which I've got to get back to work on.

Today is the first of June. 5 straight months of blogging every day. Every. Single. Day. I can't believe it, sometimes. But there it is.

I won't be back to blogging until tomorrow (Monday) evening. So y'all hang in there.

I agree... today has been a good day. I wish I had another "today" tomorrow but I'll be back at work, wishing I wasn't. *sigh*

I would love to see this 'Erin in November' painting.
I love long weekends too. Take today for example: I called in sick, that gives me a three day'er.

Congratulations on your blogging milestone! I tried to blog everyday to set a routine, but lately, I've been eyebrows deep in code on several different sites.

5 mos straight? Good for you. But, as my team is in your division? I cannot congratulate you on the Cubs win.

Lou,

I don't care to get into details, but let's just say, we have a lot more than painting in common. And, I thought I was the only guy that hated yard work.

Are you familiar with a canvas that comes on a frame called a Gallery Wrap? You may want to check this out as if you paint a piece on a "gallery wrap", you don't use a frame. I know you will know what I mean when you see it. Many contemporary painters do not put their work in traditional frames. Another trick many artist use, buy old frames in second-hand stores. Some old frames are real bargains as not many people know nothing about antique frames. Another thing, that I like to do, is to use old wood windows, especially odd shaped ones that are not too big. Have you ever painted on masonite? Cut it to the size you want, you can use the front or back. If you paint in oils, you must cover the surface with gesso or a latex paint.

So, you follow the Cubs. That speaks volumes about you and commitment.

Hope you have a good week

Fred

myst_72: It's been hard. Blogging, that is.

elizabeth: Yes, but another weekend looms on the horizon.

Sandy: see reply to myst_72. Almost halfway, though.

tiff: Aww, shucks. I love you guys, too.

Warriorwoman: I'm going to put the applet back for 'Erin'. and nice to have a day off that doesn't cost you money.

Emily: Cubs won the first one.

witchypoo: It's called multitasking. But I know it's tough.

AFF: I know. We can't ALL be Cubs fans. But we ARE everywhere!

moneythoughts: Fred, Our age binds us together, if nothing else. I have a small collection of 'old' frames and I'm always looking for more. There's an auction house in town and they sell a lot of 'estate' stuff. It's a good source.

grandview: Mike, I agree - but White Sox/Cubs sounds better - although it COULD lead to civil war.

CUBS!

I met my husband when we were both working at Hi-Tops Cafe, right across from Wrigley. I miss Chicago...
