Weekend 100 Word Challenge - Lights

What follows is offered in response to Velvet Verbosity's 100 Word Challenge. The challenge, this week, is "Lights ".

 
The Actress
She had been the Director's Assistant. Quiet and shy, soft spoken and somewhat skittish, she was the script girl, the line prompter, the general go-fer.  Out of sympathy, more than anything else, the Director had made her the Understudy to the lead in the current production of the little community theater, "The Unsinkable Molly Brown".

When the lead actress called from the hospital he knew his mistake.  He had no choice.  The Understudy would have to go on.   No one else was ready.  But he had no idea how amazing she would be, how she would BECOME, under the lights.
