100 Word Challenge - Haunting

What follows is offered in response to Velvet Verbosity's 100 Word Challenge. The challenge, this week, is "Haunting".

100 Word Challenge

Obsession

She started out as a doodle.  A simple scribble, done over and over, absentmindedly.  Eventually, she gained more form - more structure - she became recognizable.

He drew her everywhere.  On walls.  On little slips of paper during class.  On blackboards between classes.  He had whole notebooks full of her haunting eyes and mouth.  He was obsessed.

Until the day he saw her.

He knew her, immediately.  Her face had occupied his mind for months - his mind's eye was always and ever full of visions of her.

But now she was real.  He didn't have to draw her.

He would have her.

This is how it works for me... with Nebraska, Delta Girl, and clearly with Tee Jay... I saw and knew them before we met, all of them riding the drafts in my mind and floating on my thoughts and into my reality...

This has the icy touch of creepy, or maybe that's just me.

Tara, no, you are not alone. It was a shade creepy. Its the "have her" part that ooks me out. If you were going for that, well done!

A little Pygmalion and Galatea, perhaps? Did he draw her into existence without realizing it? :-) I've got a screenplay in my head centering on a similar notion. One day I'll actually write it. Lol.
