Being Type II

In case you didn't know, I am a Type II Diabetic.  Now.  Before you begin to worry, I have been a diabetic since I was 50 years old, and in that time I have not experienced any of the changes that mark the deterioration many experience as diabetics.  My kidneys are fine.  My sight is fine.  My extremities are well supplied with blood because there are no circulation issues that have arisen from being a diabetic.

Apparently, Type II Diabetes affects some people more than others and I am fortunate in that it affects me little.  So far.

One of the most important things a diabetic can do for him or her self is to keep a close eye on blood sugar levels.  Checking twice a day, over time, will help you construct a pattern - and help you modify your behavior if it needs to be modified.  You can't effectively control your sugar if you have no idea what it is.

I'm a diabetic and I'm healthy.  I take my meds as prescribed and I check my sugar every day.  Twice.

Because I want to STAY healthy.

Both parents, and my brother all have some Type of diabetes. My dad is insulin dependent, while my mom and brother can manage with medication and diet. I worry that I could develop diabetes too. I'm glad that you are diligent in treating your disease.

It's so nice to hear people like you, that don't struggle with the problem... simply solved. You wanna stay healthy, and that's what you do. Stay like that, confident and optimistic. And always looking up :)
