Last Chance Sunday

*ALERT*  Sports *ALERT*  (for you non-sports fans)

Today is the last chance for the Bears to make the playoffs.  They MUST beat the Detroit Lions.  If they do that, then they must cheer on the hated Packers (who play a later game) as they play the Vikings - if the Bears win and the Vikings lose, then the Bears make the playoffs.

I can't believe that the Bears may well turn me (temporarily) into a Packers fan. *shudder*

Hey.  It's 45 days until pitchers and catchers report.

This has been a really sucky year for Chicago sports.  The Cubs lost 101 games.  The Sox fell out of contention late in the summer.  The Bulls are playing like calves.  The NHL disappeared.  And the Bears, who started the season 7 wins, 1 loss, could wind up with 3 wins and 5 losses for the second half of the season.  And should they LOSE today, they'll be 2 and 6 for the last half.  Phooey.

This coming season, the Cubs should be better than last season's 101 loss club.  They'll go as far as their pitching will take them.

The Bears need work on offense.  They need a new Offensive Coordinator.

The Sox may well contend this year, and the Bulls may get better when Rose returns, but ...

Just but.  I'm getting a bit tired of searching, constantly, for the glimmer of hope all the time.  I want to be able to go into a Cubs baseball season saying "This is definitely the year".  I want the Bears to go 15 and 1 in the regular season.  I want the Sox to kick some American League ass.  I want the NHL players and owners to get their shit together and get the players back on the ice.  And I want Derek Rose back, on the court, playing his amazing game and leading the Bulls to long winning streaks.

I don't want much.

Ndinombethe.

I'll cheer for your Bears today. Every little bit helps, right?

As for the Packers... sometimes you have to do the wrong thing, for the right reasons. Da Bears!

... as far as the football goes, I am from Detroit... 'nuff said...

It is amazing how little I actually follow sports... Derick Rose is STILL hurt..? Adrian Peterson has raised the bar for recovering from knee injuries...

... hockey has gotten so much smaller as a sport that the money in North America is not that much greater than in Europe and Russia... if the owners and players don't get things together, they will reduce hockey to an afterthought in the United States...

...what is with the Cubs..? Did they break a mirror in front of a black cat while walking under a ladder..? Is Dusty Baker still around or did he plead for his release from the Penitentiary..?

...White Sox... see above (not to mention my Cabera and Verlander Fat Heads staring back at me from the wall..!)

I do miss sports but I guess I was brought up in the last golden age for the big 4... there are so many distractions in life that sports just simply isn't the "be all" for me that it once was...
