What you see below is the third oldest lighthouse in the United States. It sits at the south end of Rhode Island.
The small red-roofed building in the foreground houses (or should I say housed) a small aquarium maintained by the U.S. Park Service. The young lady who was in charge when we were there was knowledgeable and, obviously, felt great care and concern for her charges who lived in the various aquaria housed in the building.
We understand that the aquarium was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Truly a shame.
