A movie review - John Carter

This isn't anything I've done before so I'm not quite sure how it's supposed to work.  That said, I feel compelled to tell you about a movie I saw today - "John Carter" - a Disney film based on the first book of the Barsoom series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs entitled "A Princess of Mars".

First of all, the film is visually stunning.  From the Tharks (12 foot tall, four armed creatures) to places that diverse populations of Barsoom inhabit, the special effects are consisent and consistently awesome.

Secondly, the characters are well defined and believable - even those that are the result of CGI.  In fact, this has to be CGI on a par with, or better than, Star Wars.

Thirdly, and lastly, the story generally follows the book - although the visual nature of film makes it very difficult to follow a book precisely.  The story is well told ...

and yada yada yada.

Hell, what I REALLY want to say is that John Carter is a really fun movie, way too loud and a bit over the top - but well made and did I say fun?  Fun.

See it.  Rent it.  Buy the DVD for your kids.  Hell.  By the DVD for YOU.

After all, everybody likes a good love story.

I am glad that you enjoyed the movie... I was wondering if the film would stand up and the "noise" around the film was quiet... I don't know if it made back the money invested in it... but I will give it a go based on your say so...
