I just had a cannoli.  First one in years.  It was good.

I don't usually eat really rich foods.  Baclava? Nope.  Too rich.  Cannoli?  Not very often - again, too rich.

Portillo's chocolate cake made with mayonnaise?  You betcha.  And if you don't live somewhere that you can get to a Portillo's, you don't know what you're missing.  And they're opening Portillo's in Arizona.  Soon they'll be a national chain.

Anyway, the cannoli went down quick and it'll be a while before my next one.

#3 Son is home for the summer.  We loaded him up on Wednesday and drove him home.  I am SO glad he's matriculating a meer 20 miles away.  It's far enough he can experience the "away from home" thing, and close enough we can be in touch when needed.  I just wish the tuition wasn't such a bear.

It must be a slow news day .. the evening news is covering a stolen parrot.  I kid you not.

I wish I liked cannoli. I know, I'm weird that way. I don't like chocolate either. However, it sounds like you really enjoyed it!

Glad to hear Son #3 is home for the summer. It's always nice when they come back to the nest for a bit. Mama and Papa get to fluff their feathers a bit.

The cake sounds delicious. My agency took us out to lunch today (to fire us all) and we had a buttermilk chocolate cake for dessert. Oh my goodness. Scrumptious for certain.

I am glad your son is close as well : ) I was 1.5 hours away and I wouldn't have changed it. I wouldn't have minded being closer, but my parents wanted me to go to a christian college and my choices were limited.

I hope your summer is wonderful!

My gran's mayo cake recipe is to die for. If you've never had a chocolate cake made that way, you're missing out.

Hope you and LM have a wonderful summer with Son #3.

I had to google cannoli, I don't think I've ever had one, it looks yummie though! Chocolate cake with mayonaise on the other hand does not sound very appealing to me. You American can sometimes have strange tastes for food! Like waffles with bacon for example. Ewww! :-)

Cool about the son being home!!

My FAVORITE bakery, Astoria back in Detroit, is one that I am sure would give Porillo's a run for its money!!

Better the news is of a parrot!!
