What follows is in response to the 100 Word Challenge, authored by the tempestuous Velvet Verbosity. The word this week is "Storm".
He stood in the middle of the street, letting the wind whip around him as he turned a complete circle, scanning the lowering clouds. Looking for signs of trouble.
"As long as this wind keeps up", he thought to himself, "we'll be alright."
Inside the house, his wife and kids watched from the front window, afraid for what might be coming. All the thunder and lightning from just a little while ago was gone.
It was strangely quiet and the air was getting still.
He ran into the house.
"Downstairs, quick. Into the basement. It's REALLY going to storm."
