Haiku Friday - Vacation coming.

Haiku Friday

Vacation

Vacation coming!!
Going to see Grand Canyon.
Hope the tribe built well.

For those who don't know, the Hualapai Tribe tribe built a Skywalk with a see-through floor 70 feet out from the rim of the canyon and 4000 feet above the river. Like I said - I hope they built well.

Yikes!
That's a view I'd be only too happy to admire with firm ground under my tootsies!
Have a great trip :)

EEEK! That gives me the heebie jeebies. Of course, the Ledge used to make me feel the same way and now I'm all over that, so....

Safe travels!

Oh! I'm so jealous. The Grand Canyon is on my wish list. I forgot all about the skywalk, but now I remember there was some controversy over it and whether it ruined the nature of the canyon, etc. I know you'll tell us all about it.

Fun! I'd never do it, but it sounds like other people's idea of fun! Have a great time!

They did build well. Last time I looked at the info, the supports holding the bridge- built deep into the canyon wall- are longer than the bridge itself and very strong. I'd love to see it IRL someday, but I'm actually more intent on visiting the Havasupai on the other side of the canyon. It's an 8 mile hike or helicopter ride in, though, and usually booked a year or so in advance. So, maybe someday...

Have fun. I saw video on TV news when the skywalk was first opened. I saw the Grand Canyon in 1962, and I have no desire to stand on a skywalk to see again. I hope you have a wonderful time, and don't crap your pants when you look down. : )
