My oh my, I have been busy. First, I set up a Facebook Group and page for the Greater Chicagoland Blogger Meetup (just go to Facebook and search for the page.) As of the time I'm writing this, there are 32 members of the group. In less than 12 hours.
The blog site for the group announcements is here. There are followers already. And I just set it up yesterday. It doesn't look like anything special - and it won't for a while, but it's up and it's ready to do its job.
Second, I got phished on FB. A post to my wall came from a FB 'Friend' and I clicked on the link provided. Like I said, phished. I cleared my cookies (no, I'm not going to go there - this is serious.), changed my Facebook password, and now I'm praying there's no keyboard logger installed - although I AM on a Mac and I should be safe.
Getting phished on FB can make you a VERY busy puppy, making sure that your friends (your REAL friends) are aware and answering queries from those who the 'phish' has spread to.
Don't get phished.
I am somewhat disheartened at Security on FB.
Meanwhile, Saturday is our meetup and I'm hoping that we have a good turnout. I have a couple of ideas cooking that may make this whole thing REALLY nice. One idea, is to contact Cisco and see if their "Presence Technology" can be brought to bear on making several simultaneous, scattered meetups into one big online 'virtual' meetup. Four or five separate rooms could become one big online room - with live video.
We'll see how this whole thing goes - but this time next year? Maybe. Just maybe.
