When I came home from Viet Nam in the summer of 1966, I was not yet 21 years old. I spent some time contemplating my navel and in doing so, I looked forward in wonder (and doubt) at what lay before me. I realized that in the year 2000, I would be 55. I could never contemplate being that old. It was just something I never thought I would achieve. Now it's 2010 and I'm staring 2011 in the face. Who'da thunk it?
Did you know that crampons, used by climbers in the snow and ice of mountains, were used by Hannibal more than 2200 years ago?
I love my digital camera. Saturday, I went to a soccer game - Chicago Fire vs D.C. United. I shot more than 200 photographs. I never would have done that with film. And there would have been so many shots I would have missed.
I watched some of "Conan the Barbarian" last night. All I could think of was a) how young he looked and b) The Governator. I am forever spoiled for Arnold's movies. Besides, the dialog was REALLY bad and Arnold's accent was THICK.
May one and all enjoy the work week.

Arnold was always a better actor than a Governor.
Thank you for serving our country Lou. Thank you so very much.
I think that about film all the time. I remember when I used to really want a special shot I would just allow myself 3 frames. Now I can have a hundred frames if I want : ) Hope the soccer game was fantastic and your team won!
So youre into soccer are you, well come visit Holland we've got THE very best Team. Ha. Make some wonderful shots here.
Thanks for your kind words on my Curch series.
CU around Lee. Dagmar
I haven't watched Conan in years. But I remember it being really corny, and that the "blood" looked like cherry kool- aid.
Looking back on being 18 and serving your country has to be a personally fulfilling memory. As a young boy, I would ask my cousin to share as much as he could about his experience in the 'Nam. He was able to come home with better memories of his experience as a Marine.
There was a Marvel comic about the Vietnam War in the 80's that I tried to collect... it was well done.
I need to find me a digital camera. I have this thingy that I picked up on sale at CVS... perhaps I should open it up and see what it does...
Love Conan the Barbarian comic... NEVER seen the film. Sometimes I have led such a sheltered life!!
There's a movie out called 'The expendables' (I think).
Arnie has a small occurrence in that one and I threw myself in the corner laughing. Good sense of humor (it has a whole lot of these aging action stars in it, way funny in a way to see them all).
Other than that, I don't know what to think of him (banning violent video games, yet you can still watch violent movies,..)
I love it when you ramble.
I know it was Charles Atlas, but i can never look at Arnold S. without seeing the back cover of the comic book in my mind's eye, with the poor skinny guy getting sand kicked in his face while Mr. muscles walks away with the girl. But Charlie Atlas helped him win the girl in the end.
Remember, Bro?
