100 Word Challenge - Vague

What follows is in response to the 100 Word Challenge, authored by the very in focus Velvet Verbosity. The word this week is "Vague".

But first ... A Word From Our Sponsor (not really, but it's a cute idea) ...

I'd like you to do me a favor and look at Art Of Seeking's post from Sunday. Just click on the link. Look at the photos there.

Do you know someone with a new office that might need some decoration? A new home? Is there someone you've been searching for a Christmas Present for?

Those photos would be amazing as large prints mounted on board. And they wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

Check 'em out. Think about it. She's got a whole bunch of really fine photos just like those you see on that page. They would make fine presents.

And now we return to our regularly scheduled programming ...

100 Word Challenge

Fear

He spun around, his eyes fairly popping out of his head as he strained to see ... to hear ... to feel.

It was pitch black. His heart pounded red flashes in his eyes.

The vague feeling of unease had become an overwhelming certainty that someone, something, was nearby. Close. Closer.

His breath was thunder in his head, masking the sounds he knew were out there, just as the blackness of night hid the visible from his eyes.

He wanted to cry. To scream. He wanted to find a safe place.

But fear had him silent - victim of vague uneases run rampant.

I've been a victim of this vague unease, too. And you describe it so well, Lou. I love your 100 Word Challenges! Always a treat...
