Wordless Wednesday - Sorta

10th Century Beehive Well
Ireland, November 2000

Lengthy Caption (thus 'Sorta'): This well was found on the property of Renvyle House, County Galway, Ireland. Renvyle House itself is built on the 10th or 11th Century foundations of a local clan chieftain's house.
The shape of the well is hard to see - thus the reason
it had only been recently found.

Renvyle House

A charming and cozy hostelry
less than two hundred yards from
the Atlantic Ocean.

Am I the only one who thought of Lord of the Rings when I saw that first picture? Either that or it explains why all us Irish people are short. ;)

These ancient holy wells are all over Ireland and their energy is palpable.
