100 Word Challenge - Failed

What follows is in response to the 100 Word Challenge, authored by the undeterred Velvet Verbosity, and no longer hosted by me. The word this week is "Failed".

100 Word Challenge

Count The Stars You Can See

As Sean got to the top of the hill, he found Paddy layin' alongside the road.

"Paddy!! What're ye doin', layin' about the road like that?"

"I'm countin' stars, Sean. Every star I can see."

Sean looked up at the sky.

"Sure and there must be t'ousands."

"I don't know. Every time I've tried I've failed. I keep losin' count."

Sean looked up again, just as a shooting star crossed the sky.

"No wonder!! They don't hold still!"

"Yer daft. That's a meteor. Now leave me alone and let me count."

"If it was me, I'd count at Noon. The answer's easier. One."

Really lovely. I like to think our sun is someone (or something) else's star.

Well done. In 100 words you captured not just a moment, but the personalities and relationship of these two lads.

This one made me smile. I could see the whole scenario and the dialog gave personality to the characters. Well done!

Aye. This one makes me so happy. I can hear the accents & see the young lads on the side of the gravel road, with the green grass and the stone wall beside it.

I spent a semester in Ireland in college. I wish everyone could visit Ireland once in their lives. The world would be a happier place for it.
