100 Word Challenge - Companions

What follows is in response to the 100 Word Challenge, usually offered by the friendly Velvet Verbosity, but temporarily hosted by me. The word this week is "Companions".

100 Word Challenge

"Will you come with me please?"

"Sure. Where are we going?"

"We're going to the Doctor's office."

"Since when do you need me to go to the Doctor with you? You NEVER want me to go with you."

"Normally, I don't. Today I'm asking."

"Why? What's wrong?"

"Wrong? There's nothing wrong. I'm fine."

"I know you. There's something has you worried."

"You're right. I'm scared. I have questions and I'm afraid of what the answers are going to be."

"You are my love. You are my husband - and we are companions. Whatever happens, we'll face it together. You and me."

I love this, Lou. It resonates with such truth and devotion. As our generation ages, I can envision a similar conversation happening over and over again.

I don't know how old the couple is, but it seems as it the relationship still is growing and their love is still strong.

What I don't know is why he is nervous. I did not get the impression that he would spring a condition on his wife. I am jus' sayin'...

"in sickness and in health"... so many times our men are stoic about asking the women folk for support. I wish that wasn't so common, we are very nurturing.
