Fragmented Friday on Tuesday

We've been going through the basement - cleaning out accumulated 'stuff'. After all, we've been in this house for more than 20 years - and we're all pack rats.

I had no idea I has so much computer stuff down there. Stuff that now is totally useless. Like a Hayes 14.4 Modem. Fer reals.

There was a box of Borland Paradox. And the original Microsoft Office. And a remnant from when I used to do databases - Clarion Professional Developer.

Grannie's new room is coming along apace. The wall is framed out for the new door and soon the dining room will be her bedroom. Annie finds out, today, when Grannie comes home.

A number of years ago, we had someone finish our basement. Yesterday, As Mark and I were taking down some ceiling tiles in order to figure out how to move a vent, we discovered some REALLY shoddy wiring work which was hidden by the ceiling tiles the contractor installed. Which just goes to show you - you can't trust people to work without supervision - sometimes. I hate to think what could have happened if we had tried to hang a fixture, for example, from that ceiling.

I hope everyone survived the weekend with all extremities intact. I did. Now, if I could just find my sanity.

Ndinombethe.

Yay for decluttering and throwing stuff away!!! Once you start, it's easy to continue. I bet you'll find stuff all over the house that you can toss!

I have seemed to have made it through the weekend none the worse for wear! As far as the computer equipment you may as well have been speaking Greek to me!!

Seems we're in the same place. I just finished cleaning out my basement last week. My deal unfortunately was due to a leaking water heater. $800 a new water heater. After fighting to clean up the mess from water damage, I figured I may as well finish the basement. (Hugs)Indigo

Cleaning. Out. Basement. (shudders) Don't you know that basements are meant to be a black hole from which nothing is ever seen again? Or is that just my family... :)

Lou, I can guarantee you that you won't find anything remotely resembling sanity as long as there is a remodeling project going on in your house.
But you already knew that, didn't you? LOL
Pictures maybe?

It's a good thing we don't have an attic or a basement. But somewhere down there in that garage is probably where my hubs hid the Commodore 64 and some of that other old stuff? He's also a packrat when it comes to computer stuff!

What??? You mean I'll never find a use for my old Hayes modem???

I have a cabinet in the basement in which are buried an entire "family tree" of computers(dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, great-great...).

You get it.

I'm still bitter that my mom sold my Commodore 64 at a yard sale. Bitter indeed.

And we survived the weekend. The kids were all getting over a virus so we stuck around in the A/C.

A 14.4 modem! Heh. Maybe the Smithsonian would be interested in it? ;)

My husband almost always complains about the work other people do in our house, which leads him to want to do everything himself, which is a mixed blessing if you know what I mean.

Maybe you can sell the stuff as rarities?
