The Faces of ACEN

Sarah is off this week - but in order to make it up to you, she'll do Saturday AND Sunday next weekend.

ACEN (Anime Central) is an annual convention of those interested in Anime and Manga, held in Chicago. #3 Son went last year with his girlfriend- this year, I went with him. The collages, below, are from photos taken yesterday. I'm still there today. Yesterday, I took more than 180 shots. I won't shoot that many today - but I'll easily have 250 shots or so when I'm done - lots and lots of blog fodder.

This is an experience which, believe me, defies description. Let's just say that when a good photographer dies ... this is where he goes. There are SO MANY photo ops here - it's almost an embarrassment of riches - that it becomes difficult to pick out the next shot. One winds up being selective - and not taking as many shots as you would think.

The shots in these collages? They aren't the GOOD ones.

There are FACES

There are POSES

And there was one person who stood head and shoulders above the rest

Manana, y'all.

So did you go in costume and blend with the crowd?

Just kidding, but I would think that most of the people there would be happy to pose for a photograph since they dressed up for the event...thus numerous photo opportunities for you.

I'm looking forward to you sharing them with us.

P.S. Haven't been here in awhile and I missed you...'my first'. Wink, wink.

My best friends brother goes to one every year. Or maybe his is a comic book thing like this. I am not sure but he LOVES it! :)

Glad you had fun! Can't wait to see more pictures!

A people-watching cornucopia! I would imagine the participants loved getting their photos taken too. Can't wait to see the GOOD ones... these are fabulous.

What a good father you are to attend this with #3 son. And the stories will be amazing.

When you do something good (go to what your son finds fun), good things happen! Our lives are enriched by the stories.

OK, I posted my comment to the wrong post on your end, so I moved it, and ... Oh, never mind.

But here's what I wanted to say about this one. This looks like a wonderful place for a photographer, painter, and writer. I can just imagine the ideas you got.
