100 Word Challenge - Unspoken

What follows is in response to the 100 Word Challenge, normally authored by the loquacious Velvet Verbosity, but this time, in fact, it's being proffered by ... Me. The Word, this week, is 'Unspoken'. The temporary new site for the 100 Word Challenge is here.

100 Word Challenge

Unrequited

"I tell you, Jimmy ... Mark is sooo dreamy, he's, like, perfect. He's so smart, and he's so good at sports, and he's sooo handsome. He just makes me feel like Jello."

Jimmy and Peg had been friends since either one of them could remember. They grew up next door to each other. They played together, they ate meals together, took naps together and even were in the same class all through school.

"I gotta go, Jimmy. Later, huh?"

"Yeah, sure, Peg."

Jimmy watched her go. Tears came to his eyes, his throat tightened up, his love unrequited, his passion, unspoken.

I was cheering: "Say it! Say it!" as I read it. So much gets missed when our truth goes unspoken.

Very heartfelt. I felt like I was Jimmy, with my heart being shredded by Peg's words.

Nice Lou. I didn't count but I assume that sweet piece was 100 words. And what 100 words that most everyone can relate to.

Hope you have a great day!

And all of those "unspokens" suffocate us, in the end. A sad and beautifully expressed story, Lou.

Awww... That is so poignant! Because I know you are a romantic, I just know that things will work out for Jimmy and Peg. One day she'll look at him, and realize the magic of loving your best friend.

Beautiful, Lou.

And in 20 years, they would be married and tell their children how they'd grown up together and were "just friends".
