Monday Meanders 2-8

EVERYBODY knows, by now, the Saints won the Super Bowl yesterday. I am pleased by the result - the Colts, beaten yesterday, are the ones who beat the Bears in the Super Bowl three years ago.

I haven't forgotten.

I am re-writing the Saturday episode of Sarah. It seems the change brought on by the death of one of the characters has thrown me off a bit. I am not happy with the last episode - and although it's still up, it will remain so only until this weekend when it will be replaced.

Jim Caldwell, coach of the Colts, is a classy man.

The shot of Drew Brees, holding his son, with tears in his eyes, was very emotional. And cool.

Pitchers and Catchers report in 10 days. Spring training. Baseball. Hot dogs. Apple pie and Chevrolet. Now - I wonder how long it will take for the Cubs to break my heart and take all the joy (and interest) out of the season for me.

It's not that I don't believe - and it's not that I don't WANT - but I was born in 1945, the last time the Cubs played in a World Series. I went to my first Cubs game when I wasn't old enough to sit on a seat by myself. I sat on my Dad's lap. I saw Hank Sauer hit home runs in Wrigley. I was there when the rookie Ernie Banks first played for the Cubs in September of 1953. I saw, for years, one of the best defensive infields ever to play baseball together - Santo, Kessinger, Beckert and Banks. I have lived and died with this team for all of my life. Someday ....

I will root for the White Sox as long as they're not playing the Cubs.

And of course, the thing that comes next, after Pitchers and Catchers and the start of Spring training - is GOLF!!! Time to start playing GOLF!!! oOr playing AT it, actually - I'm not sure you can call what I do "Playing Golf".

Ndinombethe.

I dunno, I can't find anything wrong with Sarah's story on Saturday... but then, I don't know where you're going with her, what your plan is. Go right ahead and re-write!

Football is so funny... all over facebook, yesterday, were frantic cheers! I've never been able to figure the rules out...

I'm with Nan on this, football ... baseball ... even golf, I never managed to figure out the rules of any of these. I'll bet you're counting the days till you can go out and play golf again!

In less than 2 months I should be back on my bike again getting back into shape. As for baseball, I don't expect too much from the Reds, but perhaps this year I might take in a few games. As for golf, well perhaps I may get out there this year. It really takes a lot of practice to play a decent game. Maybe I will just go to the driving range and have fun and forget about keeping score. : )

I was fortunate to end up with a man who isn't a sports fanatic. I'm more than happy with his musical capabilities to fill that slot. However we both do find ourselves watching the World Series. To me - baseball is the heart of America. We don't exactly agree on teams though. I'm a through and through Yankees girl. Blame it on the NY'er in me.

Golf? I'm delighted it gives you such pleasure. For that alone I'll give the sport credit. Otherwise I've never fully understood chasing a tiny ball all over the place. (Hugs)Indigo

I think I need to live in a place where you cannot play golf year round so I better appreciate where I am now. Although living in one of the golf capitals of the world certainly doesn't get me out often enough.

I have a soft spot for the Cubs, but I don't think they've got all the right pieces. Besides, I cheer for the Mets and we have to have a better year than last!

Time to make plans for spring games, we have about 10 teams within 2 hours of us.

Go, Red Sox!

Seems like you and I are of the rare Chicago breed that loves both the Cubbies and the White Sox. I just can't NOT love my Cubbies, and the Sox brings fond memories of my dad & I at the game :)

CAN'T WAIT FOR BASEBALL SEASON! (and hey! March is around the corner :) )

My sister was just reminding me that pitchers and catchers report in 10 days. She is a HUGE Yankee fan. Me, well, I am aware that the teams exist and I always like when the "underdog" does well. But, follow a particular team, no.

I can hardly wait until it's warm enough outside to play outside too!

Never been much of a sports fan, here. Can't wait to read what you come up with for Sarah.

While it was years before I moved here, my husband still has scars from the Colts moving to Indy. I don't think he would ever be able to root for them, no matter how cool Peyton seems. Needless to say, he (and I by extension) were very pleased with the Super Bowl.

Nan: Football is easy - but then, so's Chemistry. Once you understand.

Jientje: Yes!!! Counting the days.

Moneythoughts: There ya go, Fred. Practice tee, it is.

Indigo: It's not so much chasing the little white ball - it's trying to force the little white ball into the little hole.

Hockeymandad: Lucky you - golf all year and Spring Training games.

Joyce-Anne: I like your sister - just not her team.

Momisodes: Yes. Outside.

Loraine: I'm working on it.

CaraBee: Me, too.

I dunno. It's hard to think baseball and golf when we woke up to 0 degrees outside today. Maybe hearing the words "spring training" will help Mother Nature along the trail of actually thinking towards spring! I hope.
