Contemplating the lint in my navel

Well, actually, it's just that I'm not happy with the last episode. It doesn't feel right. So I am contemplating a rewrite. Sarah is taking the day off while I figure out what's gone wrong here.

I realize the only people who will read this are those of you who have been following Sarah's story. I'm sorry about this. But I need to feel good about what I write and I don't feel right about the last episode.

It may be that there needs to be more - there needs to be an explanation of why it takes her a day and a half to get on the plane from LA to Vegas. It may be that I didn't let this bit 'cook' long enough before I sat down to write it. I don't know. But I just don't like what I've done and I will not push forward until I AM happy.

If it helps, as a reader I noticed that the tone of the story had suddenly changed. Starting right here: Ma'am? She wondered that the Stew had called her "Ma'am". What kind of crap is that? I felt Sara underwent an abrupt personality change. And I felt it alter my perception of her and my connection to her.

Although it is innately feminine and women do tend to notice and react unfavorably the first time they get called ma'am, Sara has so much going on right now that just came across as petty and shallow.

Don't say you're sorry, we understand.

If you find any livestock whilst navel-gazing, perhaps you might send them over? Miss J, (age 4) has quite a collection of 'belly-button bugs' that she is looking to expand.

We'll be waiting! I know I will.

No need to apologize. Do what you feel you need to do and take whatever time you need to "fix" Sarah.

And here I was POSITIVE you were going to answer the age old question of how lint gets into one's navel. Well, into the male navel... because I've never in all my years had lint in my navel. ; )

As I've told you, I'm so far behind on everyone's blogs I'm finding it hard to catch up, and that includes your story of Sarah. If you email the whole story I could catch up, it's just too hard right now to try to do so by going back through your posts. That or a link on your blog to the whole story would be great.

No worries These things happen. It can certainly be part of the process, and you definitely need to feel good about what you've written.

Looking forward to reading the changes.
