It's all about the writing

Y'all know I'm writing a book. Two, actually. One in progress and one whose development is on hiatus. And over time, on this blog, I have written numerous short stories and Haikus and responses to the 100 Word Challenge(see the Applet upper left). In fact, it's because of this blog and the practice I get putting my ideas into print that I have the confidence to even CONSIDER writing a book.

Now I manage a site for writers. I have mentioned it before. There is an applet on the right sidebar that will take you there should you click it. 'The Inferno'. And 'The Inferno' is associated with the an Artist's Challenge site whose applet is top right sidebar. 'The Artist Challenge'.

'The Artist Challenge' issues a challenge, periodically, that visual artists respond to by producing Art, in their field, in keeping with the theme of the Challenge. 'The Inferno' issues challenges, as well, timed to agree with the timing of the challenges on the Artist's site. And starting now, the challenges will be the same on both sites. At least to the degree and extent that's possible.

I've told you all that to tell you this. There are many of you who read here who are, yourselves, excellent writers. I am asking you to consider becoming part of 'The Inferno'.

Challenges are always voluntary. No one keeps score or a list of those who do or do not participate regularly. Membership gets you on the mailing list - and the mailing list is how you're notified of new challenges. No one has the mailing list but me, so no one gets solicited by any other group or organization.

It can be a way to get noticed. It can be a way to have some fun. It can be a way to sharpen your skills as a writer.

Come aboard.

Ndinombethe.

Great. No sooner do the Bears get magical with the Vikings tonight, like the smackdown they put on the Saints two years ago, and now you’re writing a book. You were complaining about the lines on both sides of the ball a couple of weeks ago. Same lines, only Cutler nailed a couple of good passes. I think he’ll season well in the off season. The boy has a good arm.

"The Inferno" is an excellent site, and I really hope to get aboard properly in January. News flash: Sean is going to Qatar and Yemen for six weeks, so I will have lots of time for writing! Pop into Poole harbour and pick me up, me hearties!

I would like to do it for you Lou, but it smacks too much of school and assignments for me to get involved. Those years are behind me now, and I don't want any part of them in my present. I don't need anyone to tell me what to write. I have enough shit running through my own head to deal with.

BTW, I watched Da Bears last night and got a big kick out of them beating up the Vikings. Did you notice the ref helping Favre get up every time he got knocked down? I didn't know that was a job the refs in the NFL did. They never pick up my quarterback in Cincinnati.

You know how intimidated I get with writing, but I'd still love to keep up with all the events...just in case :)

Trying to be a photographer is one thing, writing is another. I know my limits. And I admire your writing skills.

Hi. New visitor here.

I don't mean to be dense. Really. But, is there a writing prompt? Or, is the title the prompt?

Are there guidelines I should follow?

Am I just a big dummy? Any help appreciated! THanks.

I like reading the submissions on the Inferno site. It's always good to get new authors involved too. I know you will get some good people.

I've looked at it the other day and it's amazing stuff on there.
I might consider it for the coming year. Right now, too much going on :)
