Better Spent

The iPod is on 'shuffle'. First up - "Beneath a Phrygian Sky" by Loreena McKinnitt in the album, 'An Ancient Muse'.

One would think that four days would be enough time. Well, three days actually. Still - it's only an eight part story and the thing is written already and how long does it take to assemble and edit the thing so it makes sense as all one piece? Apparently, the answer to that question is - longer than you allowed yourself, Ace. Either that, or you need to find a better way to spend your time. Oh, yeah. Would that all my time were better spent.

Next up - 'No Time to Smell the Flowers' by Melanie Safka in the album, "Old Bitch Warrior'. (Talk about coincidence.)

I spent the afternoon at the office, yesterday. One last persistent Gremlin slain. I will test things during the week - I will know soon enough. I will know well before the weekend whether or not I will need to glue myself to the computer on yet another Sunday afternoon. An afternoon off, PLEASE?

Next up - "Phonograph Blues" by Robert Johnson on the album "Robert Johnson: The Complete Recordings"

You all know by now that I like to write to music. It helps me get in touch with my muse - whoever and wherever she is. Robert Johnson is the man who inspired the story of the musician who sold his soul to the devil "Down at the Crossroads".

Next up - "The Bonny Swans" by Loreena McKinnitt out of the album, "The Mask and Mirror".

It's taken me longer than it should to write these little paragraphs between the titles - I get distracted. Of course, the music is supposed to help prevent that. WTF?

Anyway, I am busily looking for places to submit "The Kid" as a short story. Just to see what happens. Any suggestions from any of you would go a long way toward helping me find places .. I can't POSSIBLY do this without some input from somewhere.

Next up - "Tango to Evora" by Loreena McKinnitt out of "The Visit".

I swear, someone is going to think I only listen to women. Actually, Larry McMurtry is lurking on here somewhere. His daddy, a successful author, wrote the "Lonesome Dove" series of books, which, of course, became the source material for the "Lonesome Dove" miniseries on TV.

Next up - "That Time" by Regina Spektor out of "Begin to Hope".

I got distracted again.

Next up - "Carmen, Prelude" by Georges Bizet from a compilation album.

Once I get a couple of chapters of 'One Knight's Story' done - and I think of a greater purpose and better title, I'm going to try submitting it, as well.
Maybe I can get an advance to work on the book. Or the other one - you know - the follow on to 'The Kid'.

Meanwhile, we segue right into "Carnival of the Animals: VII. The Aquarium" by Sainte-Saens, from another compilation album.

And because that one is so short - next up is - "Anna Rose" by Vienna Teng off of 'Warm Strangers'.

I know how much my audience likes LONG posts so I'm not going to take you through all 713 separate songs in my iPod. But I am going to go out on a good one ...

"A Little Help From My Friends", by The Beatles out of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"

"I get by with a little help from my friends ..."

Ndinmbethe. As I go, I am wearing you.

Lou you could always do a createspace deal at Amazon. Kind of a self publish thing. You get to set your own royalties. Other than that, just submit it to as many publishers as possible.

Not many tips from me here regarding the writing, except for what I already did.
Hope you get it the way you want it soon and wish you all the Best with it!

Sorry that gremlin has kept you busy. Hopefully he's left the building, never to return.

Take your time. Rushing leads to dissatisfaction- usually.

Loreena McKennitt is who I want to be like when I grow up.

I have a little Loreena on my iPod too. Great playlist!

I love shuffle on my iPod. It's like having my own radio station (with over 5,000 songs on my iPod) except it is all music I want to hear and no commercials!

I used to HAVE to have music or TV on to get anything done - now I get distracted, too. I had to turn off the freakin' NEWS I wasn't watching the other day cuz I kept looking up to see if I could tell which way the anchor's comb over went.

Wish I could give you some advice with the story, but I'd love to hear when you find a place to submit it!

Love the song you ended with. 713 songs? That is quite a playlist you have there.

I wish I had some connections or suggestions for submitting your work. Because it really needs to be published somewhere. Really.

First thank you for putting the correct link to my site over at VV. Second I'm pleased to have you as a friend too. I think you accept people without judging -- faults and all. Next I can be absolutely no help getting anything published -- no knowledge of that industry. Finally, I'm beginning to regret more and more giving the ipod shuffle hubby won as a door about a year ago to the grandson. I think I might be enjoying it now --- sigh

Get yourself some George Winston. His "Plains" album is wonderful to relax with. ;-)

This reminds me that I have GOT to get more than 8 songs on the new MP3 I got for xmas. I'm always amazed at how quickly everybody else can get their new techno toys and get them all set up quick as a flash. Not me.
