Still no breaks

Yesterday was Sunday. A day of rest, right? Ha. Ha. Ha. Surely, you jest.

I thought I might sleep in a bit. At 8:55am I get a call on my cell. It's my boss. Who is (at that moment) in Ohio at a family thing.

"Don't tell me we've had another power outage."
"Yes, we did. Power went out yesterday for almost five hours."

I didn't ask him why no one called me. I knew. Because Saturday a week we had a power outage and I went to the plant on what was the first day of my vacation to get the systems back on their feet.

The guy who would substitute for me is ill.

By 9:30am I was on the road. On the way to the plant.

Today, my boss and I are going to lay out the plans for the money we're going to spend building some power reliability into our computer systems. At least, more than we have - which we thought should be enough.

This is my one day of work this week. I am going to spend it well.

Now I'd like YOU to spend a little time well. Click on the links in the following paragraph and drive more traffic into Zoeyjane's site. It's for a good cause, I promise.

Zoeyjane of Mommy is Moody is DOING something. She is donating all the revenue from her advertisements on her site, for this month, to To Write Love On Her Arms. Go to Zoeyjane's site and read This Post. She gets paid by 'Impressions'. Just going there helps. Click on her ads - and help more. Click through to To Write Love On Her Arms and see what they do. Just doing that will help, too. This paragraph is going to appear at the end of each post, each day until the end of the month. As a reminder. Just click through. And help. Save the women and men and boys and girls that don't need to live without love, that don't need to suffer addiction and depression, that don't need to die.

Ndinombethe.

"As I go, I am wearing you".

All of you.

Thank you, Tash, for teaching this to me.

Geez, your power grid up there is horrible!

Well, I hope the day of work today is the last you'll see of the place until your vacation is over!

Geeezzzz!!! At least today you are SUPPOSED to go to work! No rest for the wicked, but it seems you are always the one helping out!
Enjoy your day then!

Best laid plans huh?

Whenever I plan a day off (and believe me it takes a LOT of planning) something crops up to prevent it from happening... Hmmmm, perhaps that saying 'no rest for the wicked' is right then?

Wait. What? said...

I used to be the super responsible party taht everyone called to solve things over the weekends or late into the night - no matter what time - I was paid OK for that service, but as an HR manager I got little satisfaction from doing it - I am glad to not be on page like that any longer... I feel free now.

I hope the new equiptment allows you to be free of the on call weekends and holidays and late nights romps to the office to 'fix' stuff.

Have a Happy new year!

What a good man! That's awesome. No whiny, complaining like I would do.

You only have one day of work this week? Lucky you! I'm currently on 1 of 3 ... working hard, obviously ;)
