I can't believe i forget to title this

UPDATE: I just noticed!! Today this blog is 1 year old. 1 year and 384 posts old. Holy Crap!! How did THAT happen?

It's unbelievable, to me, how busy I've been lately. Of course, all of it is stuff I've taken on myself - volunteered for, if you will. And all of it has come at me but one at a time. Kinda creeped up on me. Sorta. All of which is fine, I suppose, but none of it is what I really want to do. Which is to paint. And to write. And to read my blogs and comment.

I don't watch much TV anymore. It's been a conscious choice made in reaction to an assessment of what I've been doing with my time. It came down to a choice between filling my mind with vacuous crap or doing something productive and creative - choosing between wasting time or using it productively. But as I have freed up time to do things I want to do, it seems other things creep in to take up the slack and seem to prevent me from doing the things I gave up TV for - painting and writing.

On the other hand, I wonder if all these other 'busies' aren't just another way to put off 'jumping into that cold pool' - if they're really just a way to avoid the blank page and the naked canvas. And am I really that devious?

So far, Zoeyjane has a nice fund building to donate at the end of this month. So, again, click on the links in the next paragraph and create some more traffic and revenue for Zoeyjane's site and the charity she's working to help fund. Please? It's going well - let's not slack off now.

Zoeyjane of Mommy is Moody is DOING something. She is donating all the revenue from her advertisements on her site, for this month, to To Write Love On Her Arms. Go to Zoeyjane's site and read This Post. She gets paid by 'Impressions'. Just going there helps. Click on her ads - and help more. Click through to To Write Love On Her Arms and see what they do. Just doing that will help, too. This paragraph is going to appear at the end of each post, each day until the end of the month. As a reminder. Just click through. And help. Save the women and men and boys and girls that don't need to live without love, that don't need to suffer addiction and depression, that don't need to die.

Peace.

I think its that time of year, when the 'busies' sneak in regardless. I don't think your using them as devious, avoidance tactics... but then again you might be? No, I don't think so!!!

I think after the silly season you might just find some time to face the blank canvases!

Tee-hee.

I'm sure that's what you're doing.

Bad Lou.

Just remember, you have eternity to complete your tasks.

One day at a time.

(Or not, depending on your theology.....)

You're doing good, my friend.

I wish I had some answers for you. I draw and paint and listen to the TV, but that's me. Personally, I don't know where you find the time to read all the blogs you follow. It seems to me that there is enough pressure on people that celebrate Christmas, that the last thing they need is more pressure this time of year. I think everyone should just chill a bit, and think.

Maybe it’s an avoidance thing, I don’t know. If it is, then maybe that part of you is saying, “I need a break…let's do something else for now and we’ll pick up with this after the holidays.”

Wait. What? said...

I do keep myself busy in order to not have to deal with stuff that I dont want to - I guess I am busted!

Its allot less these days - but I find I would rather hit the gym than do the laundry!

hehe

It's easy for me to distract myself with another task instead of doing what I really have to do. Sometimes I do it untentionally but many times it's intentional. Avoidance and procrastination don't make the job disappear. There are only so many hours in the day and once in a while, I like to put my feet up and relax for a few minutes.

there is something about a blank page - whether it's an editor or a canvas - that makes you remember the million things that need to be done. Like, oh, dusting underneath the stove.

I know what you mean.
I only get things done productively when I shut everything else off.
No other programs running, etc.
Te more I concentrate on my shops to finally create stuff from my "old" pics, the less I get "done"in the blog world. Or Life intervenes and we do other stuff and time is missing for either or.
And learning more about my camera, let alone making progress in my photography....well....
;)
Wishing you the Best and let's just keep thinking that things happen for a reason ;)

WOW! Happy blogiversary!

I know what you mean. I see this past year as a year of soul searching, tuning into the creative wheels that turn inside. And now we can start on fine tuning them :)

Mmm, mindless crap. I kind of can't wait for my TV to arrive. I also understand busy, but I'm glad I made it back over here. I've missed reading my dose of Lou.

I think you're the kind of man who just can't say no when somebody asks for your help.Who always gives the good advice. Who offers help to anyone needing it, and for all of the above reasons is extremely popular....
Never mind TV, the internet can be quite a time sucker too!
I have hardly watched TV since I started blogging too!
Today was one of those days! Getting NOTHING done but solving a problem I created in the first place? Ewwww!
By the way, a very very very happy blogaversary to you Lou, I hope you're still going to be around for a long time, we sure as hell don't want to miss you!

I have many avoidance mechanisms. I just wish I knew how to avoid them.

Happy Birthday!! We have a TV, the physical entity, but we don't actually have TV channels (of vacuous crap). So we look at our photographs on it instead. I figure the baby can learn who family is, or at least what they look like.

Since we don't have daylight until 9:30 - 10 ish, and because Tess's school starts at 9, which is far later than any school any of my kids have ever gone to, I lose the morning almost every day. It is noon before I know it, and I feel like I have accomplished nothing.

Congrats on a year of blogging!

Busy -- real or pretend -- is still busy. I say that because I am always busy doing things I want to do to keep from doing things that need done. Glad I'm not alone.
Things like painting and writing take a certain kind of energy that can be drained from a person this time of year.
Just know that when the creative energy returns and you once again feel *Sarah's Story* or other stories yearning to be told the time will be there. I'm sure it will be the same with the painting. All good things come in time.
I'll wait. :)
