Along for the ride

I have started writing the new story. It's called "Vigilante, The Sarah Pierce Story". Yesterday evening I completed the first 2000 words. And I'm not even done with the first scene yet. This is going to be a MUCH longer story. I think it's going to come out in Chapters. Long chapters. Which is going to make presentation a problem, I think. The kid was easy. Each episode was about a thousand words. Enough for one post. Not too long. Not too short. Well, some were shorter than others and the shorter ones did earn me some mild complaint about length. But this one is going to be longer. Much longer. This chapter could easily go to 4000 words. Or more. Because I love telling a story. Maybe what I'll wind up doing is posting a link into Google Documents where each chapter can be presented properly formatted and paginated - so it looks and feels more like a book. And it would be easier to read, too.

I don't know where all of this is coming from. Like the title of the post says - I'm just along for the ride.

Now, if I could just figure out how to find a book deal ...

I think your book is writing itself. You are just the instrument it is using. I look forward to this work. *The Kid* was just the introduction. We had to know about him for her story to make sense. All along you were meant to write her story. Whatever format you chose to publish it in I'm with you. Right now and forever YOU are my favorite author.

I hardly think you're along for the ride... you're at the helm.

It just so happens that I know two people "in publishing", but they're in the UK. In any event, their companies have branches in the US so when you're finished and you're ready we'll see what we can do.

I totally dig the concept of this story. Of course, I have a thing for "kick ass chicks" so I'll be on the edge of my seat while you pen this thing. Lock and load, baby!

I know someone who's trying to get published. Apparently, you have to send a letter of inquiry to see if the publisher would be interested in your book. Only after they respond (hopefully in the affirmative) you send the manuscript. And, make sure you formally copyright your story too.

I can't wait! I'll be able to get in on the beginning of this story.

Jientje: Thank you, Jientje. It's all of you who spoil me.

Shadow: I enjoy your scenery, too.

Patsy: That. Is. So. Sweet.

Tash: You reall know how to thrill a guy, don't you?

Witchypoo: Thank you, witchy.

Elizabeth: Lock and load? Now THERE'S a feminine expression for ya. On the other hand ... it does have another connotation. Yeah, baby!

Joyce-Anne: I'll be careful. I promise.

Tara R: Ground floor.

You're only along for the ride? Well! Look at all of us riding piggy-back!

I sense your excitement at giving life to this story. I hope you're able to find a worthy publisher.

p.s. my brother was over yesterday (he's a professional artist) I showed him the painting. His words "I love it!" He'll help me seal it in approx 11 months.

Looking forward to reading... might be a little tempting to read stories instead of my homework...

I managed to write a haiku for the first time since grade school. It's on my blog if you'd care to look. Let me know if it's any good.

Oh just write a book and I can read it on the bus. The computer burns my eyes after awhile.

And I'll have a signed copy.

Hi Lou ~ I'm o.k. ~ thank you for asking though....Have had a huge week this week - my new boss came over, I had double the orders to pack...and my brothers 40th birthday to help orgainse last night..I didn't allow myself to turn the computer on - cos I knew I'd get distracted and would end up stressing.

Lou if your only along for the ride, from what I see you better have a bus, a big bus. Your adoring fans will be following along no matter how you post the chapters.

Lou!!!! Please, go sign up for Nanowrimo! Seriously. 2000 words already? You would totally rock the Nanowrimo quota (50K words) in 30 days! Go on.

Did you think about publishing it with LuLu?
I don't know exactly how it works, but I think it can be done.
