I've figured most of it out

Last evening I walked all over the campus of North Central college with Zach. While I was growing the blisters on my feet which now plague me, I did some daydreaming about The Kid and the rest of his story.

I have the general outline of the rest of the story in my head, and even some of the details of how it all leads to the scene in the alley - and the evening leading up to that, you know - the scene with the Boss. I'm tying threads together and it's all falling into place. I promise you, if you've liked what you've seen so far, you're gonna love the stuff that's coming up.

Thursday's episode is 'in the can', so to speak. Next Thursday's episode is roughed out and I'm tweaking it every day. I'd say it's about 90% done. It's gonna be a surprise. I know it surprised the hell out of me!! I did NOT plan this story up until this point. It is only now that I have actually done any planning of this story. I think I had to get this far in order to see the rest of the story - I do now, or at least most of it - but I had to get to this part - this part that surprised me - before I could formulate the rest of it.

Goddess, this is fun.

And yes, Holly, Anglophilefootballfanatic, it was you who pulled the curtain from in front of the Mighty Oz. it was you who ... oh nevermind. Yes, you are the one. But you need to know that it did NOT upset me so much as surprised me. I was flabbergasted. I thought I knew it all. I'm 62 friggin' years old. There aren't supposed to BE any surprises left. But, suddenly, the spotlight is shining in my eyes and I realize how blind I have been. And it's very liberating to know that there are still things to discover, out there, in the world, in the blogosphere, in lalaland. No, boys and girls, the wizened old critter does NOT know it all and that's fine. And it's going to be so. much. fun. finding out what ELSE I don't know!

Lou,
Everyone writes differently. John Irving took index cards and taped them up in his office with lines between the characters. He would do this for months before ever sitting down to write a thing. These days most people use some sort of software to keep track of characters and how they all interelate. There are quite a few software companies out there...take a look at this one....http://www.newnovelist.com

LOL - I don't think you EVER know it all.

I still laugh at my friend 'L' when he discovered women had 3 holes 'down there' instead of 2.

I think his quote was "Where's it been all this time? It's like discovering there's another planet or something."

Oh you have me itching to see if there are any other illusions I can help you shed!

I'm envious that you can sit down and get those stories out of your head and into something tangible. I can't seem to do that. I started a kicker in my head last night (those that stem from my husband acting like an ass tend to do that for me) and it all evaporated into thin air. Poof!

I'm glad when I can figure out what's for dinner before I walk in the door after work!

Thank you for all the thought, time and effort you are putting into the 'kid'. I know I am not the only one here that appreciates that.

Have a great day, Lou.

Toodles~

i believe that's part of the fun writing... you never know what you'll end up with since the mind digresses so. looking forward to the next 'episode'!

I'm anxious to see what's coming. It's really amazing how these things evolve, huh? Just when you think you know where your headed the game plan changes.

That's a very Zen way of writing. I like it.

Did you really think there were no surprises left? tee-hee....

62 is not old.

I'm glad someone surprised you! That is the most beautiful thing that can happen (usually).

After reading your posting today and all 10 comments, I have nothing new to add, except that I too am looking forward to your next installment of The Kid. Age is relative. A 100 years ago 62 was considered old perhaps. Today, with proper diet and meds, the body and mind seem to last longer. We have an American woman swimming in the Olympics in her 40's. I remember when the Cincinnati Reds traded Frank Robinson, a Hall of Famer, to Baltimore and said he was "an old 30." No doubt genetics plays a big part in the health we enjoy in our later years, but that said people will continue to live longer and healthier lives as more is discovered about the aging process.

You're a regular lifelong learner, you are!

It's like this creation of The Kid is a birthing. When you've completed him, you will miss him. You will miss creating him. When time has passed, you'll remember fondly the creation of him. Which is why you'll create another one. And another. You'll be addicted to the creating and nurturing and honing. Each will hold a special spot in your heart. Because it was you who brought them to life.

Dude, I have to cop out and say ditto to what hyphen mama said. She said it beautifully :)

I can't wait to read the rest!

p.s. Seems as if the spotlight is always blinding me these days. Especially online.

Ayewonder: Thanks Mike. I'll check out that software.

maggies mind: Just call me Gypsy Rose Lou.

Alice: I know of a girl whose MOTHER didn't know there were three. Cross my heart ...

myst_72: OMG. I didn't see you until today. Not only the rack, my Dear, you have the whole package.

tash: Do you have any idea WHY it's not a good idea to wave that red flag in front of the Bull's eyes?

elizabeth: I have to admit that this story was born out of a desire to participate. Like I could write a whole thing about Yacob Vobescu, too. But in either case, the stories come from a 'need'. of some sort. All I have to do is channel it into a 'need' to create.

employee: You're welcome. And I have to thank you and everyone else who's been reading and commenting on this stuff I've been writing. You guys have NO IDEA how wonderful your comments and approbation make me feel. Is that the right word. Approbation?

shadow: Yes, the unexpected. It's fun. And thanks.

redchair: The same thing happens when I paint without a plan. Only it gets ugly, quick.

Christy: It seems life is FULL of surprises, lately.

moneythoughts. Thanks, Fred. Aging process? What aging process?

holly: Oh, you have no idea!!

hyphen mama: There is something to be said for giving birth with no episiotomy scar. But seriously, thank you for a wonderfully kind thought.

Sandy: Few deserve to be in the spotlight more than you. You are a beautiful person, inside and out.

I'm in to see the doc tomorrow at 1330. For now I'm dousing myself in hydrogen peroxide and taking really disgusting pictures of it as proof. ;)

I laughed out loud that you called me out. Puppy asked what I was laughing at and he just said, "I hate your internet obsession." Good times. And, PLEASE don't ever tell the Junior League or my mother. I'd be in big trouble for not being lady like.

I love the burst of energy in your voice as you discover this love of writing.

Creativity is addictive, yes.

62 is old if you believe it.
(don't believe it)
