They get a lot of stick those old school houses, but I heard on the radio that there are quite a few still around and [more importantly] giving the kids a fabulously individually taylored education.

When hope when I'm 82, I look a lot like that school house. A bit tattered, a bit worn, but still standing in my glory with my head held high.

My husband once was interested in photographing dilapidated barns. There aren't that many where we live, though, so that phase was short-lived.....

My home town had a one room schoolhouse, my mother used to tell us stories about 'back then'.

Lovely photo! When I was a kid, my dad would take us occasionally to see the old house where he grew up. Even then it looked a lot like your schoolhouse. I had always thought I'd like to someday restore it and the general store right across the road, but the house is long gone now. It's amazing how tiny the house was but they raised six children there.

My thoughts exactly. Lou, I think you should paint that photograph. Get a nice size canvas. Make an 8x10 photo in black&white, gird the photo so you can capture the proportions exactly. I think it would make a hell of a nice painting. With your brush style that sky will dominate the picture, but that is exactly what make the photo so absorbing.

Awesome shot with the clouds as a contrast!
I love old places like this, they could tell so many things. Sad is only that they fall apart and noone repairs them and keeps them up.

This is a great picture. I like to photograph buildings like this... and the best part of this picture is knowing some history behind it.
