I went paintballing with my sons yesterday. All together there were 13 people in our group. 12 people in our group were 31 or younger. Of course, we just joined in the 'open games' and became part of a larger group, but our group stayed intact.
Anyway, I was the oldest. And the slowest. And a lot of those trees were really too small to hide behind. But. These people who play these games are VERY aggressive. When you have 30 people on a team that don't know each other, when there's no order, discipline or control, they become a mob. A group with a plan will defeat a mob, every single time. Heh, heh. And we did.
I should be a General or something.
No time today. Have to run.
Tomorrow is Part 9 of David's story.

General Lou!
Sounds like fun. Disappointed the hear you weren't able to magically disappear behind the trees in true cartoon style...
Tash: All it did was re-emphasize the need to lose weight. I used to be one hell of a jungle fighter. I wouldn't last long, anymore. I AM going to work on that.
Kudos to you. I tried the laser tag thing one time and was decimated by every little thug in that place. Just terrible.
Haha, sounds like a fun day and also true advice, even for times when nobody's holding a paintball gun.
Oh paintball I want to try that, sounds like you had great fun.
I noticed that during my one & only try at paintball. Most people just run and shoot without a plan. If you think your way around the "course" you can be successful.
Ive never don paintballing sounds like fun!
And you are on 'when' you next come over!!! Thank you!
Funny blog. Paintball scares me! I know I’d manage to shoot my eyeball out.
You reminded me of that scene from Fried Green Tomatoes. Two young chicks tell Cathy Bates they were ‘younger and faster’. Kathy intentionally destroys their car and says, “Yeah, but I’m older and have more insurance.”
So remember General, you may be older than those young whippersnappers but “you’re more cagey and know when to duck!”
Vikki
General Lou. How soon can we send you to Iraq?
Alice: They were just trying to get your attention. Showing off for the best lookin' girl in the room.
maggie's mind: I didn't think of it in those terms, but I guess you're right.
girlblue: Yes, it is great fun - and their were plenty of girls there, yesterday, as well. Having a really good time.
mike: It was a fairly heavily wooded area with lots of undergrowth. They didn't have a chance against Marine Corps tactics.
casdok: It is fun - not without a certain amount of 'risk of pain', though. And I'll let you know, for sure, the next time we're on our way 'over there'.
redchair: Mask with goggles is required equipment for playing. You would NOT shoot your eye out. But 'YES!!" to knowing when to duck.
audubon ron: If we could just get both sides to use paintball guns. I'd be there in a New York Minute.
Glad you had a fun time with your sons. Looking forward to Part 9.
Take care, Lou.
Toodles~
Lou? Plotting and scheming? No way ;)
Sounds like it was a great time!
Can't wait to read part 9.
I give you a lot of credit to play paintball with your sons. Also, I am looking forward to your next piece. Have a good week.
Wow, at least you went! Give yourself some credit!
Lou, very cool.
Why I leave paintball to the men in my life? Because I've seen the nasty bruises left behind the next day. If it leaves that kind of a bruise, I can only imagine the pain involved.
Sounds like you had a lot of fun, though! And that's all that matters.
I need to catch up on David's 5-8. Off I go to attempt to find them.
employee: Part 9 has been done for DAYS - I have been chomping at the bit. 12:01 AM tonight.
Sandy: Not so much plotting and scheming as trying to minimize the bruising.
moneythoughts: The main motivation is and was - being with my sons - all three at once - in a shared activity.
holly ambrose: But it's fun. Although I'm not sure I would play it where YOU live - WAY too hot and humid.
neutron: Yeah. It was.
hyphen mama: the links are upper left on this page.
No pictures, no photos of paint spatters? What's with that... and you call yourself an artist? Sounds like a good time was had by the victors. Congrats, Gen. CL
"hell of a jungle fighter" eh?
What comes to my dirty mind is, if you wear some antlers I promise not to use real bullets.
tara r: Maybe next time - some bad cell phone pictures - because there is NO WAY I'm taking my Canon out there.
Warriorwoman: If all I get to wear is antlers, you'd better not be wearing anything more your gun.
I will definitely check out that story.
Also, was that your first time paintballing?
Eve Grey: Not the first time. About two years ago we went to this same place. THAT was my first time. And that's how I knew how aggressive these groups would get to be. And why I knew anybody prepared to take a leadership role would find themselves on a winning team.
You GO, Lou! :)
it's a toss up to me which would be a first choice... Rascal Flatts concert or paintball. hmmmm... I LOVE paintball... it is totally AWESOME... good exercise and a great adrenaline rush!! :)
My hubby used to play on a pro-paintball team, we did all kinds of tournies it was GREAT. i loved going and watching but it wasn't till last summer that I tried paintball and LOVED it even more!!
It was so cool!! I keep asking my hubby when we can go again, but it is hard b/c there aren't many places around here... BUT I think we are going to PA to Skirmish (sp?) to play soon... the end of Aug. we are going with some friends... should be a lot of fun. I think I did a post on my paintball trophies... aka my bruises... but they were all well worth the amount of fun I had!! :)
glad you had a good weekend!!
xoxoxoxoxox
Wow do not mess with the Lou. He's coming for your territory and taking names, but not like a hostess.
My older boys would absolutely love paintball. Scheming? Pain? Violence? Testosterone? Bring it on.
But what will your paintballing day look like in the Past Life Regressions of the distant future?
Glad you had a great time general!
Paintball is so much fun. I am sure you had a blast. I played for the first time last year and came home with a few nasty bruises and a friend of mine got hit in the calf and had a bruise for 2 months. But it was all worth it in the end. Glad you had fun.
