Confession is good for the soul

I know, you thought, "Oh goody! Deep dark secrets are going to be revealed." I'm sorry, but my skeletons are staying in the closet where they belong. Which does not mean that I'm in the closet, thank you very much for all of you who went in THAT direction right off the bat. Especially you, Old Knudsen. No, the secret to be revealed here is really rather obvious, if you stop and think about it.

I have become something of an attention whore.

Now, that said, I'm really not doing anything different on these pages than I would otherwise have done - I haven't 'sold out', if you will. I don't sensationalize my blog. I don't post really off the wall crap just so people will take notice. No, what I post is what I would post no matter what.

It's the comments.

I LIVE for the comments. I LOVE, absolutely LOVE getting comments. They FEED me. They make me feel like you like me as much as I like all of you. And you know what thrills me most of all? When I get comments from people whose blogs I have not yet visited that day. People who are READING ME without prompting by a visit from me. I find that insanely flattering.

I feel like what I have to say matters.

There. I am so glad to have gotten that off of my chest. Of course, this is Saturday. That's the day I always went to Confession when I was a kid. "Bless me Father, for I have sinned ..." Yada, yada, yada. You thought .... Nah, you didn't. Anyway, this post will be read by so few. It is, as I say, Saturday. You guys, the ones who read this, today, are the ones ... the special ones.

The ones to whom what I have to say matters. On Saturday.

It's probably a different crew during the rest of the week.

Comments are the bomb dot com, and you say stuff that makes me want to say stuff back. ;)

I always wanted to be special :)

And yepp, confession time is always good - it's good to get that stuff of your chest ;)

Have a good weekend :)!

What you say matters to me Lou - even on a Saturday.

Goodnight (well, very early morning in this part of the world to be perfectly honest)

Awwwww... :)

I feel precisely the same way about comments.

I feel the same way too! I love my comments and my commenters, and my statistics. I love knowing where people come from, too.

I just came over to your place to take a peek after having found you on I'd Rather Be Blogging. Looks good so far! :)

I love comments too, I think that's something we ALL have in common. Glad I'm special because I read on Saturdays! :)

I'm always shocked and surprised by any comments I get because my blog is such a navel-gazing experience for me.

Confessional--as much as I'm able....

Someday, it will probably go ALL tell-all, and get an "X" rating...

I'm glad you like our comments Lou.

Who doesn't like comments? Without comments, it is like talking to yourself. Feed back is important, it lets us know if we are connecting. I connect with very few, but then again perhaps what I have to say doesn't touch many people. You Lou, seem to have an ability to touch people and I think that is why you receive so many comments. And, you write well too. You are down to earth and a straight shooter, so it is no surprise you have a band of loyal readers. All the people that read your blog enjoy the little time they have with you each day. People know the real thing when they see it.

You know this blog thing is really very young. I am sure with time it will develop. It probably already has, I just don't know it.

Have a nice weekend.

Lou, you've prompted me to share a confession of my own ... why do i comment on your blog? First and foremost, I like your style, both wit and writing. But the keeper, the thing that draws me back, when I have a million other things I could be doing ... are posts like "Yesterday's backstory" and the note that went along with it.

-Faithful Reader.

Comments are like getting pieces of mail. I literally walked 3 miles round trip everyday to check my mail in Kenya.

It's the prospect of something new and exciting possibly to be revealed! What could be in this envelope?!?! I think it's why some folks are so addicted to the text messaging too.

And if I were to stick in something at the end like "Lou is a big ol' hunka burnin' love"...then it makes it all the more exciting! Mwah!

maggie's mind: Thank you, ma'am.

nicole: You ARE special. And a good weekend will be had by all.

tash: You flatter me to no end. And I love it. Thank you.

Rebecca: You do?

Jay: Thank you - and all the way from England, too!

calicobebop: I see I'm going to have to be less of a lurker by you.

Christy: A little navel gazing never hurt anyone.

Moneythoughts: Thanks, Fred.

Shadow: You, too, have a great weekend down there in South Africa.

neutron: Thank you. Just ... Thank you.

warriorwoman: You, my fair lady, are more than welcome.

myst_72: No - haven't been to Confession in many years. Not to say that I don't confess - Annie gets an earful from time to time - but not to a strange man.

Alice: God, woman, you've made me tingly all over.

I'm with Money and Alice - who doesn't like comments and I'd walk that three mile walk just to check my mail, too.

I just wish I had more time in my day to not only write, but to read EVERY blog on my list every day. I just can't SO I spend a lot of time catching up on weekends. AAHHHH, the world of full-time jobs and teenaged kids.

Comments and e-mails have been a lifesaver this week. The gratitude I felt surprised me. Hope you're having a nice weekend!

I was gonna say 3 Our Fathers and 3 Hail Marys, but the strange man part upped you to 5 & 5...and now say your Act of Contrition and remember if your in-laws weren't such good believers you wouldn't have a wife...

It's okay to say you like them, dear. We all do.

It's good to admit things like this... makes you seem a little more like the rest of us common folk. I do love a batch of good comments too.

You know, I'd like to say I don't live for the comments but the comments mean that somehow you struck a nerve. Whether it's a funny nerve or a serious nerve, it's just good to know that you have reached people in some way.

I love comments, too.

Alice's comment made me think of when I was 21 and moved 1300 miles from home. I knew nobody. I'd walk the block or so (not 3 miles, mind you) to the post office every day hoping, praying that there would be something in there from back home. Something to show me that people hadn't forgotten me. And when there wasn't the disappointment was thick the rest of the day. When there was, I walked on cloud 9.

K. I suck. I have a rough time making it into the blogosphere on the weekends :( But it doesn't mean I don't love reading you. Because I do, more so than many :)

p.s. Your comments always rock!

It really is the fun of blogging, the interacting with people on a regular basis that you may never have seen in your life! :) And you're a very good commenter! :)

Hooray for all your comments!!

Well, I guess I will join the "other crew", but strive to come by more often. I just recently discovered your blog, through Past Live's.

I believe we all love our comments, for if nobody replied or commented, who are we writing for. When I first started blogging, I did a lot of lurking. I have since had a few friends I've met through my site that have gotten me off the lurker fence, and a little more involved.

The best part about comments, is reading them on other site's. You have some very faithful and fun readers.
