100 Word Challenge - Protection

The following is in response to the 100 Word Challenge authored by the vulnerable Velvet Verbosity.

She runs before the wind, the swells running with her and threatening to swamp her. Her sails full to the point of splitting, her mast straining against the lines which hold it erect, she runs for the harbor whose light beckons across the angry and swollen seas. The grey and angry clouds bear down on her like scowling old men, their wroth expressed in the terrifying gale which is trying to sink her. She runs for home, and harbor. She seeks the one thing the harbor offers her in this time of need; the thing she needs the most. Protection.

I am listening to an album as I write this. "Old Bitch Warior", by Melanie. In her 50's now, she stills sings the melancholy and plaintive songs like no other has. I like to listen to music when I write - it helps me set the mood.

I have found it so difficult to blog in the last few days. No so much that I haven't been able to keep up with my 'Blog365' obligations, because I have blogged each day, as I am supposed to do, but that I haven't been reading anybody and I haven't been able to respond to those who have been kind enough to keep reading me. And now that I finally have the time thing worked out, and the issues are under control, I can't seem to just jump back in there - I am having a tough time picking up where I left off.

And to top everything off, one last nail to put in this coffin of effort, I can't find my friggin' Ipod. Two and a half days of music and podcasts lost. Of course, it's all on this computer I'm on, but I can't put this puppy in my shirt pocket, now can I?

Later y'all. I will be to each and every one of you tomorrow. I have made up my mind to catch up tomorrow. And I will.

Doctor Warriorwitch here says your condition is known as Blogger Burnout.
Sounds like you could use a break Lou.
I will always come visit and wait for your words, I like reading so much.
You haven't put me off at all.
And that 100 words you wrote is damn good. I could feel it as I was reading it and I admire the way you humanized the sailboat.
Well, well done Lou.

Take your time. I totally understand, I've had the pauses in blogging myself! I hope I didn't make you feel pressured! :-( If so, I'm sorry!

No worries Lou. We all must take time for things in our personal lives. The blogosphere will always be here. I find myself struggling to catch up every Monday..it's no fun.

Hope you find your iPod!

I feel like that sometimes, too. No worries, blogging should not be done out of obligation to a group, it's done for ourselves. I feel that I am lucky enough to be invited to all the lives of the people I visit daily. And, if I miss a day...it's OK!

Be well, Lou. Always. You are a dear.

oh, I lost my ipod too, and to make it worse it was a gift from someone I spend a fair amount of time with, and eventually they are going to notice.

As for the piece, see my blog for a more detailed response. The short version is "Wow".

Very cool piece for the prompt, Lou. I'm glad to have found such a cool group of writers.
