I should have clicked on it BEFORE commenting...because there are birds watching the ship go by! Makes it even cooler!
I watched them unloading the containers in Seattle. I was stunned at how fast they could do it -- I think it was somewhere around a minute from picking up the container to the truck driving off with it.
Another shipment of gheys huh? did you know that Barcelona imports shipments (on ships) of water cos of the drought from, wait for it, 2005? see it all ties in, serendipity caused by Global warming.
I miss the bay. Went there a lot. That ship looks like its headed for Oakland. I'm guessing but I think you took that shot from the marina not far from the Buena Vista Cafe.
Lou, you're like a rock star with all the comments you receive. Nice picture of SF Bay. The first time I was out there was 1965, on my way to Korea. I have been there on business since then a few times. My daughter's wedding at the end of August is taking place in Sonoma, CA. I will spend a day in SF coming and going. Such a neat place to live, if you can afford it.
I have some pics I took in 1964 when I worked on a Norwegian freighter, that I could put up some time. That was back in the days when I was a Jewish Viking.:)
O.K.: You see him too, huh? And no, i didn't know that.
Gabriel: Thank you. And you're welcome.
Audubon Ray: Actually, the shot was taken right near the Aquarium, between Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. The Cafe is closer to Ghiardelli's chocolate factory, near Fort Mason.
moneythoughts: Fred, most of the people I read get WAY more comments than I do - I suppose that makes THEM the rock stars, not me. But I appreciate the sentiment. Had to chuckle at the image of a Jewish Viking.
When I see the birds I think of the song "One of these kids is doing his own thing... one of these kids just doesn't belong..." Would that be the white sheep of the family?

Great photo! I love all the elements...the ship, the fog, the color of the water, and the pilings in the foreground.

What a great shot! I thought it was a painting for a second there :)
I think someone on the boat is waving at the camera.
Julie (Twice): I loved it in Frisco, and the fog that rolled in every day was just too cool.
Sandy: Thank you. Taken while on vacation - with my old digital, the Sony.
Elizabeth: I could never tell whether he was waving or flipping off the birds. Cause I KNOW he wasn't flippin' ME off.

Great picture, Lou!
Happy WW, and thanks for stopping by!

Nice shot! :)
That's a gorgeous pic. I never thought of a cargo vessel as beautiful, but in this setting it is. I dig the bird watchers.
Oh, and San Francisco? Argh.
Rebecca: Thanks.
Imaginary binky: All ocean going vessels are beautiful. That's why they call them "she".
I feel a sense of homesickness viewing this photo. I miss San Francisco very much.
Great pic!

Wow.... love the three shades of blue. REALLY cool.
The picture is great; I think I like best the lone seagull hanging with the anhingas (at least that's what they look like.)
