Unexpected Anniversary and Happy New Year

Happy New Year. To you, and you, and you and especially .. you.

I'm not going to get all mushy and stuff, and try to tell you what you mean to me. I'm sure at one time or another during this last year, I've made that perfectly clear. I hope so. I hope all of you know by now.

So. Happy New Year. To you.

If, on January 1st of 2008, you had told me that I would be posting on my 731st consecutive day of posting on January 1st, 2010, I would have told you, possibly, that you were nuts. Possibly. But I certainly would have treated that particular piece of information with a large measure of incredulity.

On January 1st of 2008 I posted my first entry in Blog365. It was an offshoot of NaBloPoMo from November of 2007. We were supposed to post every day for a year. "One lap around the Sun".

I remember how difficult it seemed at first. I remember how monumental a task it seemed when one looked forward from the middle of January or February, all the way to December 31st. It seemed impossible. But after a while, you would stop looking forward and you'd take it one day at a time and somehow ... somehow it worked and the time went by and then it was Fall, and there was less time left than had gone by and you realized that it was, after all, possible.

I have no idea how many of us started. Sometime in April or May, as I remember, the founder dropped out. Most of the rest were gone by August. There was a handful of us left at the finish line - December 31st. And those of us who were left ... kept on going. But, eventually, even the most steadfast of us fell by the wayside. They still blog, but not with the same frequency. Not every day.

So why, then, do I still blog every day? Why. I'd really like to know.

I have posted every day but one for the last two years - and on that one exception day, I had a guest blogger.

Maybe, after all, it's me that's nuts.

Now. Goals for the year. Because that's what people do on this day:

Finish 'Sarah'.
Lose 40 pounds.
Restart "One Knight's Story".
Paint a nude.
Pick a month to paint a picture a day.
Meet more bloggers.
Learn to like yardwork.

I think those are reasonable goals. And now they're in print.

Happy New Year, my Peeps. I love you all.

Ndinombethe.

For a minute there you had me worried you were going to quit blogging daily? But it's a lifestyle I guess, at least it is to me.
I was one of the handful at the finish line and have kept going ever since, except when I was traveling.
My goal this year is toimprove on my photoskills and to master that D40 DSLR. I want to tame that beast!

I blog everyday because people come and see what I've written. If they didn't, I wouldn't!

Happy New Year, Lou -- to you and those you love.

Happy New Year!

I'm so glad I 'met' you!

My secret? I LOVE yardwork.. I'd do yours if we lived closer.

Just one question... paint a nude WHAT?

"Paint a nude what?" That's cute. That's the best one of the bunch Lou! I am doing the same thing this year too. By request. I have never done one and while I have looked at hundreds of them over the years, I am going to give it a try. The person that wants it done said she would be happy with a pencil drawing, but after I complete several sketches, I plan to pick one to paint in acrylic. There are many good books on painting the nude figure, and I plan to study them too.

Have a Great Year in 2010 Lou!!!

You threw that last one in just to see if we were paying attention right? I look forward to reading more about Sarah and The Knight, and hopefully see more of your wonderful artwork.

I hope you and yours have a wonderful 2010.

Hapy New Year to you & your family! Thank you for a great blog to read that's not "the same old stuff".
The resolutions are good except I think liking the yardwork only comes from someone else doing it...LOL!

I have no idea how you do it, but I am certainly in awe of your blogging and writing stamina. You are very much an inspiration in many ways, Lou.
It has been an amazing journey from when I first came here to visit, to today.

That is a wonderful list of goals. I'm still smiling about the yardwork. That's a tough one!

Wishing you and your wonderful family a very happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

By now, those of us who stuck out year one and then year two don't know HOW to stop writing every day.

I think it's a good thing, because it gives others something to look forward to every day. Knowing that I can come find a post from you and Jientje every day is a nice present every day. :)

How bad am I? I got a smart phone so I can blog from anywhere!

Happy New Year to you.
I came to your blog via Perilously Precocious and I am happy to have found you. I now feel inspired to continue my goal of posting every other day for one year.

I look forward to reading your posts in 2010.

I am impressed that you have been able to keep up with such a rigorous blogging schedule. I have noticed my blogging drop off in recent months, but that is as much about ennui as busyness. I'm just not feeling the same passion for it that I used to. Two years in, I suppose it's okay to go through a blog funk.

Your goals are very reasonable. Except the yardwork. It just isn't fun. No two ways around it. But if you do figure out how to make it enjoyable, can you please pass along the secret?
