Graduation Day

My youngest Son graduates today. After the ceremony, there's yardwork to do. We leave on vacation tomorrow morning and there's no other time available to do the work. Meh.

It's hard to believe he's going to be in college in the Fall.

It's hard to believe he belongs more to his girlfriend, in his heart, than he does to me.

I guess this feeling is as old as time. The young move on and away, establishing their own lives, manner of doing things and ways of relating to the world. Supplanting the old and seemingly staid with new and fresh and vigorous.

I guess it's just the way things are.

Awww, it must be great to see them grow up, even though it's tough at times.
Have a happy day today, all of you!

I think sometimes it isn't exactly their heart that belongs to the girlfriend ;-0. I also think some children are surprised at how much they do miss their parents once away at school. Friends of mine got very sweet letters & calls from their out of state offspring that they were really not expecting. My ex-bf's 20 year old son calls his Mom every day & one day said: Could you move here? ~Mary

What's that old saying? You have given him roots and wings so now he will use them. He's not gone, just on to another adventure in his life just as you and Annie are. Congratulations to all of you!

I understand exactly how you feel. Young women can be as 'distracted' by BFs.

Congrats to your son on his graduation, and congrats to you and the missus for raising such a nice young man.

Congrats to you and your son. We need ever child to graduate from high school we can get, and hopefully college as well.

You take it easy today and don't over do it. That yard will be there when you get back from vacation. Take care of yourself.

Have a safe and fun vacation.

Congratulation, and job well done. I have the feeling, you will be missing him now. Your right, children grow up and move out. All we can do is hope we raised them well, and gave that solid foundation. It's up to them to start building the structure and shaping their life. I doubt you have anything to worry about.

Congratulations to your son! I imagine this time is bittersweet. But, you've done your job, now it's time for him to do his.

Have a great trip too.

Oh Lou. It's their way of telling us that we did good, raised them right, and they're ready to move on. It doesn't mean there's not still a tie right back to us.

Did you bring tissues? I bought a new purse so I can fit an entire fucking Kleenex box in mine tomorrow.

He's still young hon, make no mistake he knows where he's loved and wanted. His ability to move on with his life is a testament of the love he had growing up. You gave him the wind beneath his wings. (Hugs)Indigo

Congratulations to your son! What a wonderful day. I can't imagine how hard it must be as a parent to see them all leaving the nest, but still, there must be a part of you that is so proud and happy too. I hope you have a wonderful vacation.

sounds a bit familiar- my kids aren't all grown yet but with my oldest graduated, working, and engaged... yeah, I can say I relate.

I swear to gawd that I pine for those days when my screaming kids will be heading off to college. And yet, I know I will be so sad to see them go. The quiet. What would I possibly do with quiet?

Good luck #3!!

Why is it when they leave home and you can finally hang around naked in the house, you no longer want to?
