In Trinidad, socializing (what we would call partying, here in the States) is refered to as 'Liming' - and a party is a 'Lime'. And, like all kids everywhere, even the best limers eventually run out of gas. Witness below:
But after a good night's rest, Sunday morning down the islands kinda looks like what you see below (Note the rope hanging down from the tree):
And then, of course, there's always this:
But, eventually, the calm of any morning down the islands will give way to things like this (Note the rope that used to be hanging straight down from the tree):
Now that was Nan's oldest, Chas, above, and below is Tash - JUST as she enters the water off the rope:
And, at the end of the day, I finally caught Stinker, Tash's son, ON the rope. He actually let go on the way BACK toward the shore - which, by the way, takes a LOT of strength:
Tomorrow I will publish the last photo essay from the trip. But NOT the last photos. I plan to publish random photos over the next week or so, with appropriate explanation in text, because there are some things I just have to show you and they don't necessarily fit a sequence of pictures. I hope you like them.

Awesome action shot of Tash . . . and non-action shot of the "limer."
I can't lie. I love me a good lime . . .
The more I see, the more like Trini seems to be heaven on earth.
Love the whole rope thing. Fun times!
"You put the lime in the coconut"
fun, relaxation, pleasure. lovely posts these!
Again more great shots Lou. You make home look like heaven.
That's so awesome! And quite actually, looks like an amazing hangover cure!
Very nice. The entire trip looks like a remedy to melt away those winter blues. So, did you go swimming and jump in the lake using the rope?
I want to be a Limer down the islands...
That's it. I'm moving.
really nice pics. glad you are having a GREAT time. :) can't wait to see more pics and hear more about your adventures!!
xoxox hugs
The pictures are so much fun! thank you for sharing.
It looks so warm. So very warm.
When Trinidad was still a British sugar plantation colony, and all was still safe and sensible, estate owners would call out to their passing neighboors to come out of the heat and join them the cool shade of the front porch for a drink of Rum and LIME! and henceforth, to sit with friends and have a drink was to have a LIME.
So there,now you're all smarter.
Seanos
I need a good Lime!
That looks like SO MUCH FUN!
Actually I thought the 'liming' thing came about because of the British soldiers/sailors who were once here who used to rub lime on as an insect repellant and were eventually called Limeys..the limes liked to lime with the local girls. In any case..we ALL like limin'. Great shots Lou
Hey Lou, what is your email address? I have photos to send you of you and Louie having birthday cake at Nan's!

Wonderful shots! You must have had the time of your life!
Excellent shots! What shutter speed were you at?
Laskigal: As do I, now.
Suzanne: So true.
Maggie's Mind: The kids had a ball.
Witchypoo: Yes, you do - and then you drink it all up.
Shadow: Thank you, V.
Tash: That's because it is.
Devilish Southern Belle: If you're sober enough to swim, it is.
Jibber Jabber: No - as evidenced by the fact that the tree is still standing.
Employee: Me, too. Me, too.
Honeybell: Wait for me.
Jennifer: More pics coming.
Hockeychic: Oh, you're welcome.
Emily: It was warm - very, very warm.
Eye in de sky: Thank you, Sean. Now I'm smarter.
Hyphen Mama: Liming is the best - just the best.

Loraine: ISO 1600/ shutter at 400 at f5.6
What a neat looking place.
Those are great shots! The tree with the rope looks very peaceful in the first shot. But lots of fun in the others!
Looking forward to seeing more of your photos.
with each phot post it makes me want to go somewhere just like that and lime too!
How fun! I've always wanted to do the swinging-rope-in-the-water thing.
That's so lovely!
I think I would be too chicken to jump, but I would love to shoot some pics :D
The term LIMEY was given to British sailors who were of the first to discover the virtues of the vitamin C found in high concentration in the juice of citrus fruits, particularly limes.
Dr James Lind made this discovery in a quest that led him not only to discover Vit C but also the cure for Scurvy, which manifests itself with bleeding of the gums etc, and is caused ny Vit C deficiency.
So there!
French sailors were often referred to as FROGS for a completely different reason, and no, liming in France is not called frogging!
Heh heh
