Back in the Saddle

I've been hired.  Back to work on Monday morning.  And my field of endeavor has changed.  Completely.

For the last 33 years, I've worked in the field of Computers.  First in Retail.  Then in Installation and Engineering.  And, over time, I developed a broad range of skills by working with many different technologies that involved Computers and making computers talk to each other.

33 years of pressure.  Pressure to DO.  Pressure to LEARN.  Pressure to figure the darn problem out.  Pressure to please the Customer - whether that customer was in the store or at a desk in the accounting department.

My new job will not have that kind of pressure.  In fact, my new job will have little or no pressure at all.  For the first time in a very long time, I will actually work at a job that will allow me to savor and enjoy the job as I do it - rather than look back at a job well done under pressure, a job I fought, scratched, cussed and swore at while actually doing it, unable to enjoy it until done.

I'm SO looking forward to this.

Ok, I am thrilled for you. But now I want to know more about what you will be doing.
