Monday Meanders

Da CUBS.  Rhymes with FLUBS.  'Nuff said.

Today is my 11th day as a divorced man.  I don't like it much, but I'm dealing with it.  That said, I'm changing beds.  I presently sleep on a King Size Sleep Number Bed.  Nice bed - but it doesn't bounce.  I'm putting together a Queen Size bed with headboard and footboard, from Ikea.  It's cool looking and even though it's much smaller than a King Size bed, there's still room for company, should there ever be company, and it WILL bounce.  Because I like a bed to bounce.

My Mom is getting better.  She is one tough old cookie.  No timeframe for coming home, yet, but at least we're closer to her coming home than we were.

I inherited a bicycle from my son because he moved to Colorado and left it behind, accidentally.  Meantime, he bought a new bike while out there, so I got his old one.  It's a nice Schwinn Mountain Bike, a type of bike I have never, personally, owned before.  I don't like "knobby" tires - they're too rough and it's harder to pedal against knobby tires.  The tires on this bike, however, are knobby at the side of the tread body, leaving the center of the tire body flat and even - and easy rolling.  So far, the only replacement tires I can find with this configuration are Schwinn Tires - Bell, apparently, doesn't make them.  Anyway, the bike rides really nicely - the first day I put 5 quick miles on it and I felt great at the end on the run.  That 5 mile run included a bridge over I55, which I made without walking the bike up the grade.

FIND OF THE WEEK:  I happened upon a garage sale that was just setting up and I saw a set of 4 wooden TV tables on wooden frame and I got them for 5 bucks.  They're real wood - not presswood.  and they are heavy.

Ndinombethe.  Ubuntu.

...surprised that you can't find hybrid (that is another name for them) tires... but now that you mention it, I sort of haven't seen them around... I have two sets of tires for London, my Trek mountain bike, and they are "either or", meaning they are road tires or oof-road tires... I liked the hybrids myself...

It may be hard not counting the days, but DON'T ... it will never get easier and it will, IMO, tether you to your past... and you DON'T want that...
