What follows is offered in response to Velvet Verbosity's 100 Word Challenge. The challenge, this week, is "Place".
For the umpteenth time the thoughts were in her head. Thoughts that could be summed up in a simple question, "What am I doin' in this place?" And that was always her answer.
Candy Germaine did her bump and grind around the tall brass pole - a numbing, mindless routine. At the end, she would kneel at the edge of the stage and let men stuff money in her garter.
She made money. Enough money to forget Lily Powell.
A failed marriage and two hungry babies buried Lily Powell.
Candy Germaine fed them all.

chilly!
I like this a lot. Well done and nicely crafted. It's going to stick with me for awhile! :-)
Wonderful opening. This would be a great beginning for a longer piece.
