What follows is offered in response to Velvet Verbosity's 100 Word Challenge. The challenge, this week, is "Train".
The slow rhythm of the wheels clacking on the tracks lulled him into dreams of her, waiting for him on a windswept headland back home, in Ireland.
He reached out to her only to find himself grasping at dust motes that floated in the stream of sunlight flooding through the window of this car, of this train that was taking him to places so very far away from her and home.
"Someday", he thought. "Someday I'll bring you to me."
He slumped back into his seat, anxious to close his eyes and find his way back to her, and home.
