100 Word Challenge - Lackluster

What follows is offered in response to Velvet Verbosity's 100 Word Challenge. The challenge, this week, is "Lackluster".

 

"Well, that was a lackluster performance", she said.

"Yeah, I know. I think I was distracted", he said.

"I think you should start over", she said.

"You're kidding. I'm exhausted", he said.

"How can you be exhausted", she asked. "You hardly put any effort into it."

"Well, the effort may not have shown, but it was certainly there. Ya know? That's not easy", he said.

"Oh, poo" she said. "I got there with no problem. And WAY before you. I think next time, you should start early."

"The only reason you beat me is I fell at the start line."
