100 Word Challenge - Tremble

What follows is offered in response to Velvet Verbosity's 100 Word Challenge. The challenge, this week, is "Tremble".

Haiku Friday
She stood at the graveside, long black dress and black veil soaked through with the cold drizzle that blew in hard on the cutting breeze.  Her son stood on her left, with his family, her daughter stood holding her right arm at the elbow.

She was 20 when they married, he was 22.  They had never slept a night apart in all their 50 years of marriage.  And now he was gone.

She spoke.

"From the day I met him, my breath would quicken, my heart would beat faster and my hands would just tremble.  Fucker."

She turned away and smiled.

Ndinombethe.

If I outlive my Mister, I could absolutely give this eulogy at his service. This was perfection.

how many widows thought this very thing . . . and then thought better of it and left it unsaid. THANK you for helping us say it. :)

I just LOVE this! I agree with Tara, great one to keep in mind. Though my husband and I have spent many nights apart in our years together.

I think she is not that glad he is gone but she will definitely remember what they shared while he was here..!
