We have a one lane bridge over the DuPage River that's been in place a long, long time. It's being replaced by a new, modern, two-lane bridge. Fortunately, preservationists were able to prevent the destruction of the old bridge - the metal decking is going to be replaced with wooden planking, like it had when it was first built, and it's going to be re-purposed as a foot and non-automotive traffic bridge. Bikes and people. That's it.
Below - the Old Bridge as seen from under the New (under construction) Bridge.
