Broken, Photo365, Day 45

Today is Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's Day. Big Kiss to the Ladies. Firm handshake to the men. And maybe a little hug. To either, or.

"Broken" refers to the lens I have used most on my new camera, the Canon EF-S 18-135mm IS macro. I dropped my camera while at the Auto Show and now the front element of the lens is loose. There was a small platform - a 4 inch rise from the floor, which I did not see and I tripped over it. Camera went flying. Bounced off the carpeted (thank goodness) floor. It didn't seem to affect the subsequent photos, but it's only a matter of time until focus won't happen or the lens elements won't line up. The fortunate part of all this is that Bitsy is an agent for State Farm Insurance and we, as a family, have a "PAP" - Personal Articles Policy. My lens is being replaced.

If you have laptops and cameras and other expensive items of similar ilk, look into a PAP. They aren't expensive - and at times - REALLY worthwhile.

Speaking of pictures:

Great insurance tip, I need to look into a PAP for my cameragery too. I'm not the most coordinated person, I tend to trip over shadows.

Happy VDay to you and yours.

Wow, I never even thought to have that on my policy! Thank you for the heads up! Hope you had a great Valentine's Day!

Great advice Lou! I would cry if I dropped my camera. Then again, I love seeing all these hardcore news photographers come home from their travels, equipment muddied and thrashed. That's how amazing pictures are taken in my opinion. You can't be all super sketchy while out, all cautious and precious with your stuff. I do that and am afraid to take the good shots. Get dirty! Trip! Fall trying to get to crazy spots.

But have insurance, haha!

You aren't kidding..! If you can't recognize this ride, then you should not be allowed to hold a drivers license..!
