Say it ain't so, Joe.

For all of my adult life, Joe Paterno has been the Head Coach at Penn State. Last night he was fired.

There has to be something that we don't know. There has to be elements of this story we aren't getting yet.

JoePa is a living legend.

And he has been fired.

The story is that JoePa had been told that Sandusky had been seen in the shower with a 10 year old boy. JoePa told his bosses - as well he should.

But he didn't SEE IT himself. As far as we know.

He may not have believed what he had been told.

Apparently, he thought he was done with it - he had followed the law.

So why has JoePa been fired?

Please don't tell me that JoePa KNEW.

P.S. Today is the Marine Corps Birthday. Semper Fi.

he knew the allegations and he knew his friend hung around children and he let the predator stay in his happy circle of fame...a decade later and how many more children molested because the lion king's glasses were fogged blue? good riddance. all the kings horses and all the kings men...

...sadly I have to agree with ~L... there are certain things that require decisive action and this is among them. Once he was made aware that there was even a hint of abuse, he should have had a thorough investigation, placing Sandusky as far away from children as possible.

This is a taint that will never was away from his legacy and will become synonymous with his name...

I'm VERY conflicted with this as well...

We don't know all the facts yet. One of my cousins posted this:

It is not sad that an 84 year old man got fired from his job. What is sad is that a 6'4" 240lb man witnessed a 55 year old man raping a 10 year old in the shower, and didn't help the kid. What is sad is that Joe knew about this and didn't report it to the police. What is sad is that these kids and their families have to live with this for the rest of their lives.

Is the former grad assistant now QB coach fired too? Did the grad assistant TRY to stop the attack?

Too many questions with no answers.

Oh, my husband is going to be sad when he comes home tomorrow and hears this. He's been such a fan of Joe. What is with our culture and the abuse of so many children, both boys and girls? God help the little ones.

I'm disappointed in the way the whole tragedy has been handled. In these sort of child abuse situations, regardless of the legal precedent, I lean more toward the guilty until proven innocent.

Here it is 8 months later.. Turns out he knew. This saddens me.
