Monday Meanders 5-9

Grannie and LM (Love Muffin) both had a nice Mother's Day, yesterday. The sun shone. The temperature was pleasant. Grannie sat out on the porch while LM planted flowers in the planter barrel next to the driveway. It looks really pretty - except the one and lonely chrysanthemum fell over. I think its little stem broke. Poor thing.

Knowing how much I hate yardwork, it's something of a miracle that I've actually mowed the lawn two weekends in a row. This week it's supposed to rain every day. Which means by next weekend, the grass will be tall enough to hide small children. Do I hear three weekends in a row?

#3 Son will be 29 this Friday. #2 Son has just had his 27th birthday. This coming June 25th, LM and I will have been married for 34 years. How on Earth did all those numbers get to be so big?

Cubs lost yesterday. That's 2 out of 3 they lost to the Reds. This team is such a mystery. On paper, they should be much better than they have been. Maybe when the weather finally warms up ....

Bull lost yesterday. That ties up the series with the Hawks. It's a best of three series now. Bulls shot 40% from the field. If they can't do better than that, then they won't win.

Grannie is a breast cancer survivor. When she found out that a woman I know, a local blogger, had been diagnosed with breast cancer, she immediately volunteered to knit a couple of hats for her to wear as she goes through treatment. I delivered the first two hats yesterday. Grannie's working on a Tam for her - she just got the new yarn on Saturday - a nice, soft beige cotton that's going to feel just fine when she wears it.
Grannie knows. Grannie understands.

Ndinombethe. (As I go, I am wearing you)

The Bulls made me SO MAD last night!

And I have to call you soon because I THINGS TO TALK ABOUT but my son left my phone off the hook last night so the battery's dead AGAIN.

I agree with Indigo, she took the words right out of my mouth!

It's good to know there are people like Granny in the world, who don't even need to see another person to be able to relate to and want to help them. Beautiful.

Grannie has a kind heart. The knit hats are such a thoughtful gesture.

Know what you mean about those numbers. Gah.

Good for Grannie. As I write this, daughter Lisa and granddaughter Emily are at Mile 11 on their 39-mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. They raised $3600 for research and treatment. We will find a cure!
