#3 Son, our college boy, a young man who, for various and sundry reasons does not drive, asked me if I would take him to McDonald's.
I said, "Sure."
We got in the car, drove through the rain to the drive-thru, ordered his 'usual', and then drove around to the 'first window'.
Where you pay.
#3 Son squirmed around in his seat and pulled a buck here and change there, but not the required amount.
"Uh, I don't have $4.63, Dad."
So, I pulled money out of MY pocket to pay for my adult, 20 year old son's meal.
The only real problem here is that this isn't the first time he's done this to me.
I expect it won't be the last.
But, at least next time, I'll ask him if he has the money BEFORE we leave the house - because when I'm sitting around in my underwear and it's suddenly necessary to throw on some pants in order to leave the house (because .. you know ... I'm so modest), there's no guarantee that I'm gonna have any money (or anything else, for that matter) in my pockets.
Can you wash dishes at McDonald's?

Just make sure you DON'T have any money on you next time.
I'm with Nan on this one. And it won't be you washing the dishes anyway!
(You have a tendency to sit around the house in your underwear? Oh, I'm so glad you never mentioned this before...)
Based on personal experience, I predict you'll be paying as long as you are willing.
I hope you plan on putting pants on for lunch today :)
He should be the one washing the dishes, don't you think?
Time for child to get an extra part time job. I would definitely ask before hand if money would be needed or not. Lucky you had your wallet on hand. (Hugs)Indigo
You know... I think that it is more annoying than anything... I sorta think if you got a good kid and someone who is making a positive step in their life... a free trip to Mickey Dee's beats a trip from the local constabulary or having some seedy friend looking for #3 saying that they have 'business'...
... I don't think you boy got to where he is in life because he was brought up spoiled or soft... perhaps he should ASK instead of assume... but otherwise...
