What follows is in response to the 100 Word Challenge, authored by the unintimidated Velvet Verbosity. The word this week is "Frightened".
He had always enjoyed Security. He had always been protected and held safe from harm - the outside world had seldom been given the opportunity to insinuate itself into his day to day concerns.
This evening, however, had been different.
He had been out with friends. Out to dinner. After his evening of warm conviviality, he had come home to find it broken into, his possessions ravaged, strewn about as if a hurricane had ripped through his flat - through his life. And now, for the first time in his life, he felt violated, helpless, and completely alone.
And he was frightened.

understandable. must be an earth-shattering experience that.
Fortunately I've never had to deal with sort of violation. I can only imagine the fear it would evoke. You did a good job bringing out those emotions.
Violated is how I would feel, as well. The crispness of your description made it all so real.

A scary scenario for sure. I would hate to have that happen to me!
I can just imagine how vulnerable and violated I would feel in that situation. Great descriptions.
I'm happy to have never had this happen to me; hopefully it never will. You did an excellent job of portraying his un-invincibility
I think I would want to run as far away as I could and as fast as I could! You really brought out the emotion! Good one!
I think sometimes "we" think men should be the big, strong, always in control people. Sometimes they are frightened, too. Great job of capturing that emotion!
Great piece! Your choice of language really brings forth a sense of violation and fear--I felt it.
Luckily, I have never been in this position. Unfortunatly a good friend of mine has. It happened about 2 years ago and she still dosent sleep well..
