Hard News

Grannie fell yesterday. Right now she's in the hospital. She's broken her hip. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow - it depends on tests and stuff - she will probably have surgery.

Understand, Grannie is tough. Tough as nails. But she's 84 years old. And two major surgeries in less than a year are going to take a toll. But there is, after all, no choice.

I'm a bit worried. And I feel rather helpless. All I can do is stand to one side and watch ... and wait ... and 'see what happens'. It's not a feeling I especially enjoy.

This is hard.

I don't know if you believe in God or not, but I do. Upon reading this I paused and said a prayer -- for you, for Granny, for the doctors and hospital staff and the rest of your family. For many of us, suffering over the pain of a loved one is harder than bearing our own pains. Peace be with you.

Man Lou, that is some difficult news to hear. I hope everything goes well and she can spend the cold winter months in comfortable convalescence with her loved ones.

Take care of yourself and don't let your concern overcome the love you guys have going on. That is going to help her as much as any medical advice or rehab will.

Oh boy, that's so sad. I hope the operation goes well. You're right, she is a tough cookie. But I can understand you're worried. Big big hug Lou xoxox

Oh, I'm sorry to hear bad news about Grannie. And around the holidays, too. It's hard to be a patient bystander when your loved ones are in the hospital. I hope she recovers well and that your family can have a happy new year celebration.
